The invention relates to the field of pneumatic automation, and in particular to methods for determining the degree of explosiveness of vapor-gas mixtures.
A known method of signaling the degree of explosiveness of vapor-gas mixtures, which consists in a direct test for explosibility in the explosion chamber using a spark of a control volume of the investigated vapor-gas mixture, previously enriched with the corresponding volume of combustible gas, and the enrichment is proportional to the lower value of the lower concentration limit of flame propagation (LEL) of combustible gas, and a spark is fed into the lower part of the explosion chamber, which ensures the spread of flame in the chamber from below to top [1]
When implementing the method by means of pneumatic automation, difficulties arise due to the limited energy of the ignited pulse generated by the piezoceramic spark generator. This leads to a decrease in the accuracy of the methods.
The essence of the invention lies in the fact that when determining the degree of explosiveness of vapor-gas mixtures, which consists in igniting with a spark in the explosion chamber a control volume of the investigated vapor-gas mixture, previously enriched with the corresponding volume of combustible gas, and detecting an explosion in the chamber when one of the parameters of the gas-vapor mixture reaches the control value , hydrogen is used as a combustible gas, moreover, the test mixture is enriched with hydrogen in proportion to its upper value NIJ lower concentration limit of flame propagation, and a spark is formed in the cross section, located from 0.1 to 0.9 explosion chamber height.
Hydrogen, the only combustible gas, has two significantly different LEL values. So, when the flame spreads from bottom to top, one of the values (lower) is 4.1 vol. and when the flame spreads from top to bottom, another LEL value (upper) is 9.0 vol. It is this feature of hydrogen that is used in the proposed method.
Typically, the explosion chamber for reasons of necessary sensitivity and minimize the flow of combustible gas for enrichment is performed in the form of a vertically arranged cylinder with a diameter of about 20 mm and a height of about 40 mm. When electrodes are installed in the middle part of the chamber, for example, in the center of a section located from 0.1 to 0.9 of its height, the whole chamber from the point of view of combustion processes is divided into two parts: in the upper part (above the spark) the flame can propagate from bottom to top when the lower LEL value is reached, in the lower part (under the spark) the flame propagation from top to bottom will be possible only when the upper LEL value is reached. If the enrichment of the test mixture with hydrogen, in accordance with a determined degree of explosion hazard, is proportional to the upper value of the LEL, then its concentration in the explosion chamber will be higher than the lower value of the LEL. So, for example, when determining the degree of explosiveness of the test mixture corresponding to 20% LEL, so much hydrogen should be introduced into the chamber so that its concentration reaches 80% of the upper LEL value, i.e. 0.8 • 9 7.2 vol. which significantly exceeds 4.1 vol. lower value of LEL.
п. The proposed method is as follows. Before the next test, the explosion chamber is thoroughly purged with the test mixture. Then, a certain dose of hydrogen is supplied to the chamber to provide its required concentration, for example, 7.2 vol. After some time (5 10 s), necessary for mixing the test mixture with hydrogen, a spark is fed into the chamber. In this case, the mixture above the spark will ignite regardless of the content of combustible components in the test mixture, i.e. even in their absence. The resulting pressure pulse can be used as a reference for monitoring the operability of the method. In the case when the concentration of combustible components in the chamber reaches 20% of their LEL, when a spark is supplied, the entire mixture in the chamber will ignite, i.e., the flame will spread not only up but also down. Another, more powerful, pressure impulse will appear, indicating the achievement of a determined degree of explosiveness (20% LEL) of the test mixture. By changing the location of the h electrodes of the ignition source along the height H of the chamber within practically 0 <h / H <1, it is possible to change the value of the reference pressure pulse in comparison with the main pulse corresponding to the ignition of the mixture in the full volume of the chamber. The presence of a reference pulse is extremely important in the technical implementation of the method, since it allows you to monitor the operability of the corresponding device in each cycle. By varying the dose of hydrogen, it is possible to change (tune) the value of the determined degree of explosion hazard. Since, under other conditions (spark energy, chamber geometry, etc.), a mixture with 9 vol. hydrogen is much easier to ignite than a mixture with 4.1 vol. hydrogen, the accuracy of the method is significantly increased. This allows you to use this method not only to determine the degree of explosion hazard, but also to determine the concentration limits of flame propagation (CRC) themselves. The latter is extremely important, if only from the point of view of significantly simplifying the installation and methods for determining the CRC, reducing the consumption of combustible substances, increasing speed, etc.
