Abstract
Description
The invention relates to rocket and space technology and relates to the construction of liquid rocket engines (LRE) operating on cryogenic fuel, in particular rocket engine and spacecraft engines using cryogenic oxidizer liquid oxygen and hydrocarbon fuel as fuel components.
1.6). Known liquid rocket engine containing a combustion chamber with a nozzle, an oxidizer turbopump and a fuel turbopump with oxidizer and fuel consumable lines associated with a turbine, a turbine drive gas generator, the output of which is connected to the combustion chamber, while the fuel supply line is connected to the combustion chamber and connected in parallel a line with the gas generator inlet, to which the oxidizer supply line is also connected ("Fundamentals of the theory and calculation of liquid rocket engines" edited by V. M. Kudryavtsev. M. You Shaya school, 1983, p. 11, Fig. 1.6).
In the known liquid propellant rocket engine, one of the components of the fuel comes from the turbopump to the gas generator in full, and the other partially. When they are burned in a gas generator, a high-temperature gas is formed either with an excess of oxidizing agent (oxidizing) or with an excess of fuel (reducing) that enters the turbine drive of the oxidizer and fuel turbopumps. Gas generation products spent on turbines are burned in the LRE combustion chamber. If cryogenic fuel, in particular cryogenic oxidizer (liquid oxygen) and hydrocarbon fuel (kerosene) is used in the liquid propellant rocket engine, which occurs in rocket engine stages of launch vehicles and spacecraft, the turbine is driven by oxidizing generator gas, since low-boiling oxidizer gasification is much lighter than high boiling fuel. At the same time, the temperature of the generator gas in the turbine is several hundred degrees with a very large coefficient of excess oxidizer (alpha> 10), and the gas pressure behind the turbine exceeds the pressure in the combustion chamber of the engine, reaching 100 or more (up to 300) atmospheres. A large excess of oxygen at high pressure and temperature conditions lead to extremely high aggressiveness and explosiveness of the generator gas. In this regard, very high demands are placed on the quality of cleaning and washing the oxidizer bases and the fuel propulsion system and supply lines. Compliance with these requirements is associated with high labor costs and leads to a significant increase in the cost of the product, however, it cannot fully ensure the operational reliability of the rocket engine in terms of its safety. Highly aggressive oxidizing generator gas can cause failure of the shaft seal of the oxidizer and fuel turbine pumps in the turbine, which leads to an LRE accident. The high aggressiveness of the generator gas also leads to increased wear of the turbine elements and a decrease in the resource of its operation.
Closest to the proposed one is a liquid propellant cryogenic fuel rocket engine including a cryogenic oxidizer and hydrocarbon fuel containing a cryogenic oxidizer and hydrocarbon fuel containing a combustion chamber with a nozzle, a cryogenic oxidizer turbopump and a fuel turbine connected through a supply line to a combustion chamber, a gas generator, an input which is connected to the lines of the oxidizer and fuel, and the output is connected to the inlet of the turbine connected to the turbine pumps of the oxidizer and fuel and having an exhaust pipe ("Cosmonautics", Encyclopedia, edited by V.P. Glushko, M. Sov. Encyclopedia, 1985, p. 217). In this LRE, the main amount of fuel components after the turbopumps is introduced into the combustion chamber, and a smaller part of them enters the gas generator. Since only a small part of the oxidizing agent is introduced into the gas generator, the aggressiveness of the generator gas in the turbine is significantly reduced compared to the prototype. The gas pressure on the turbine is also reduced, since it is exhausted into the atmosphere. As a result, turbine operating conditions are significantly improved, explosiveness is reduced, and engine operational reliability is increased. However, in this design of the LRE, the chemical energy of the fuel entering the gas generator is not fully used, which reduces the efficiency of the engine. This is due to the need, from the condition of ensuring the heat resistance of the turbine blades, to maintain the temperature of the generator gas lower than the temperature of the combustion products in the combustion chamber. Therefore, the combustion of fuel in a gas generator is carried out not with the optimal ratio of components, but with a certain excess of oxidizing agent. As a result, one of the fuel components does not burn out, which increases the cost of fuel for creating a single thrust impulse.
The objective of the invention is to increase the efficiency of LRE operating on cryogenic fuel, by reducing the amount of fuel burned in the gas generator, and increasing the completeness of combustion of fuel in the gas generator.
The task is achieved due to the fact that the liquid rocket engine on cryogenic fuel containing a combustion chamber with a nozzle, a cryogenic oxidizer turbopump and a hydrocarbon fuel turbopump with consumable lines, a gas generator, the outlet of which is connected to the turbine inlet connected to the fuel turbopump and having an exhaust pipe, in accordance with the invention, is equipped with a second turbine associated with a cryogenic oxidizer turbo pump, and the gas generator is equipped with a cooling jacket connected through a cut-off second valve to the flow line oxidant, the output of the gasifier cooling jacket is connected to the inlet of the second turbine outlet through which the heat exchanger is mounted on the flow of oxidant line is connected to the flow line before cryogenic oxidizer turbo pump.
The presence of a cooling jacket at the gas generator connected to the oxidizer line allows gasification of the cryogenic oxidizer entering the jacket due to its heat exchange with high-temperature gas generation products and heating of the obtained gas to the temperature of the turbine working medium (600-900 K). The presence of a second turbine associated with the oxidizer turbine pump and connected to the outlet of the gas generator cooling jacket allows the use of gasified and heated cryogenic oxidizer to drive the oxidizer turbine pump. The presence of the cooling jacket of the gas generator with cryogenic refrigerant provides highly efficient cooling of the generator gas, which makes it possible to burn fuel in the gas generator with the optimal stoichiometric ratio of components, eliminating the increased thermal effect of gas on the turbine blades. Due to the optimal ratio of components burned, the most complete release of thermal energy of the fuel in the gas generator is ensured, and the cooling of the generator gas by the cryogenic component, which is then fed to the oxidizer turbine pump drive, increases the efficiency of using the released heat energy of the fuel. This eliminates losses on the oxidizer turbine pump drive, since the gasified cryogenic oxidizer after the turbine and heat exchanger again enters the oxidizer supply line and, ultimately, burns in the combustion chamber or gas generator at the optimal stoichiometric ratio with the fuel. These circumstances can significantly reduce the amount of fuel used in the gas generator to drive the oxidizer and fuel turbopumps, and thereby increase the efficiency of the rocket engine.

25. The engine comprises a combustion chamber 1 with a
6. When the engine is operated by turbopumps 6 and 9, the cryogenic oxidizer and fuel are supplied via lines 5 and 8 to the combustion chamber 1. At the same time, a small part of the oxidizer and fuel is fed through lines 13 and 14 to the gas generator 12, where it is burned at their optimal ratio. The gas generation products enter the drive of the turbine 11, which ensures the operation of the fuel pump 9, and then through the exhaust pipe 21 and the auxiliary nozzle are released into the atmosphere. At the same time, another part of the oxidizing agent (approximately 5% of the total amount) through line 17 enters the cooling jacket 16 of the gas generator 12, in which it is gasified and heated by heat exchange with the generator gas. As a result of this, the temperature of the generator gas entering the turbine 11 is significantly reduced, and the heated oxidizer vapors are sent to the drive of the turbine 15, which ensures the operation of the oxidizer turbine pump 6. The oxidizer vapors spent on the turbine 15 pass through the heat exchanger 19, where they are cooled by the main stream of the cryogenic oxidizer supplied by the flow line 5 into the combustion chamber 1. The cooled vapor of the oxidizer through the
Thus, the supply of a cryogenic oxidizing agent to the cooling jacket 16 of the gas generator provides an effective reduction in the temperature of the generator gas entering the turbine 11 and allows fuel to be burned in the gas generator at an optimal ratio of components. In this case, part of the energy of the fuel burned in the gas generator is consumed to drive the fuel turbine pump turbine 11, and the other part of the fuel energy is transferred to the cryogenic component by heat exchange, turning it into the working fluid of the oxidizer turbine pump drive turbine 15. As a result, losses on the drive of the turbocharger for the supply of oxidizer and fuel are reduced and the amount of fuel burned in the gas generator is reduced, which makes it possible to increase the efficiency of the LPRE. Efficient cooling of the generator gas in front of the turbine 11 also increases the reliability of the turbine and the engine as a whole. Since the fuel is burned in the gas generator of the proposed LRE with the optimal ratio of components, the toxicity of the output after the turbine 11 is eliminated. A decrease in the amount of fuel burned in the gas generator and an increase in its completeness of combustion allows the engine to be environmentally friendly.
Calculations show that the invention allows 2-3 times to reduce the amount of fuel supplied for combustion in the gas generator. In particular, the use of the proposed liquid propellant rocket engine in a booster block of a spacecraft with a payload of 2 tons will save 150 kg of fuel used to drive a turbo pump of liquid oxygen and hydrocarbon fuel (kerosene). At the same time as fuel economy, the weight of the payload that is launched into the target orbit by the spacecraft increases by 150 kg.
