Description
The invention relates to quantum electronics, in particular to TE-type electric-discharge lasers with volume discharge ignition by a high-voltage prepulse.
A device for exciting a frequency gas laser containing a pulse-charged artificial shaping line connected through a magnetic key to the laser electrodes to which an sharpening capacitance is connected [1]
The disadvantage of this device is the difficulty of its use in high-energy gas lasers.
A device for exciting a wide-aperture excimer laser containing pulse-charged forming lines connected through a spark gap to the laser electrodes is deprived of this drawback [2]
The disadvantage of this device is the large size, low pulse repetition rates and resource. In addition, the forming lines must be charged to a voltage that ensures the breakdown of the discharge gap of the laser, which is inefficient.
The prototype of the invention is a device for exciting a gas laser containing a cathode and anode, to which a pulse voltage generator (GIN) is connected, consisting of a capacitor connected to a high-voltage GIN terminal, and a switch connected to an earthed GIN terminal, as well as a pulsed charging source [3]
The specified device provides higher compared with previous analogues of the laser efficiency at a high pulse repetition rate.
However, the device is difficult to increase the aperture of the gas laser and its generation energy, since the voltage at the high-voltage output of the GIN is limited by the range of operation of the frequency switch. In addition, the prototype requires the use of two pulse chargers, which complicates its operation.
An object of the invention is to increase the aperture and energy of generation of a gas laser.
The technical task can be carried out by a device of a new design, containing a cathode and anode, to which a pulse voltage generator is connected, consisting of a capacitor connected to a high-voltage output of a GIN, and a switch connected to a grounded output of a GIN, as well as a pulse charging source. The difference between the device is that the GIN capacitor is connected to its switch by two chokes with unidirectional windings on a common core and connected to the grounded GIN terminal by two series-connected capacitors, the common point of which is connected to the switch through an inductor, the high-voltage GIN terminal is connected to a pulse charging source and connected to the cathode through a magnetic key.
The implementation of the device in this form increases the amplitude of the high-voltage pulse of the pulse voltage generator, which allows to increase the aperture of the laser and increase its generation energy. In addition, the operation of the device using only one pulsed charging source is ensured, which simplifies the operation of the device.
The invention is illustrated in the drawing, which schematically shows a device for exciting a gas laser.
15. The device contains a pulse charging source 1, which in the simplest case consists of a storage capacitor with a switch and charging inductors; GIN 2, containing series-connected capacitors 3 5 and switch 6, and the capacitor 3 of the pulse voltage generator is connected to its switch 6 by two chokes 7 and 8 with unidirectional windings on a common core and the common output of capacitors 4 and 5 is connected to the switch through an inductor 9, GIN 2 is connected through a magnetic key 10 to the cathode 11 and anode 12. A peak capacitor 13 is also connected to the cathode 11 and anode 12, and a forming line 15 is connected through the magnetic key 14.
A device for exciting a gas laser operates as follows.
6.When the pulse charging source 1 is turned on for a time ≈ 1 μs, the capacitors 3 5 contained in the GIN 2 are pulsedly charged to the voltage U O. In this case, the capacitor 3 is charged through the inductor 8, the capacitor 4 is charged through the inductor 7, the inductor 9 and the inductor 8; the capacitor 5 is charged through the inductor 7 and the inductor 9. At the same time, the magnetic switch 10 is charged to a voltage U О of the peak capacitor 13 connected to the cathode 11 and anode 12 and the forming line 15 connected to it through the magnetic key 14. During the pulse charging, the magnetic cores keys 10 and 14 and the common core of the chokes 7 and 8 are in a saturated state. The switch 6 is activated, which can be made in the form of a magnetic key or thyratron. The voltage is inverted at the capacitors 3 and 5 connected to the switch 6.
Энергия накопления в пиковом конденсаторе 13, диспергирует в разряде, обеспечивая падение его сопротивления до некоторой квазистационарной величины R, при напряжении на разряде ≈Uo/2.In this case (without taking into account losses), the voltage at the high-voltage output of the GIN 2 varies from U о to ≃ (-3U о ). When inverting the capacitor 3, the inductance of the chokes 7 and 8 with a common core is minimal, since the currents in their windings are equal in magnitude and counter-directed. To reduce the time of inversion, the inductors 7 and 8 can be made single-turn. The magnitude of the inductance of the coil 9 is selected so that the inversion time of the capacitors 3 and 5 is approximately the same. During inversion, unidirectional leakage currents through the chokes 7 and 8 are negligible, since they have the opposite direction with charging currents, as a result of which the chokes 7 and 8 have a large inductance, since their core is in an unsaturated state with respect to the leakage currents. The magnetic switch 10 is activated, and the charge from the series-connected capacitors 3 5 flows into the peak capacitor 13. At the same time, the preionizer (for simplicity not shown) is activated and the active volume of the laser is preionized between the cathode 11 and anode 12. The charge flows to peak capacitor 13 over time ≅ 0.1 μs. The voltage at the peak capacitor 13 is inverted to the value ≈ (-U o ). The magnetic key 14 is triggered. Through the magnetic key -14, part of the charge flows from the forming line 15 to the peak capacitor 13, whose capacitance is approximately two orders of magnitude smaller than the capacity of the forming line 15. Due to transient processes, the voltage on it begins to increase from the value (-U o ) to (3U o ). When the voltage ≅ (3U o ) is reached at the peak capacitor 13, a volume discharge is ignited between the anode 12 and the cathode 11. The storage energy in the peak capacitor 13 disperses in the discharge, ensuring its resistance drops to a certain quasistationary value R, at the discharge voltage ≈U o / 2.
The forming line 15 with the wave resistance ρ≈ R through the magnetic key 14 is discharged to the agreed load in the form of a volume discharge between the cathode 11 and the anode 12. When the discharge line 15 is discharged during 0.2 0.4 μs, an energy input into the volume discharge is performed, which allows get laser generation.
In the process of operation of the device, the energy reserve of GIN 2 is spent not only on inverting the peak capacitor 13, but also on energy loss in magnetic keys 10, 14, as well as on the operation of the preionizer.
When using a device for exciting an excimer XeCl laser, the value of the charging voltage U o 5 • D kWh / cm, where D is the distance between the cathode and the anode; the capacitance of the forming line is (200,400 nF), the peak capacitor is (2 5 nF), the GIN capacitors are (6 20) nF.
Compared with the prototype, the device for exciting a gas laser acquires new positive qualities. The performance of the GIN in the indicated form, i.e., connecting the GIN capacitor to the switch with two chokes with unidirectional windings on the common core and its connection to the grounded output of the GIN through two series-connected capacitors, the common point of which is connected to the switch through the inductor, increases compared to prototype the amplitude of the pulse voltage GIN three times. This makes it possible to increase the aperture of a gas laser and increase its generation energy and average radiation power in a repetitively pulsed mode. In this case, the connection of the high-voltage output of the GIN with the cathode through a magnetic key is necessary to supply the ignition voltage to the discharge gap of the laser after inverting the voltage on the capacitors of the GIN connected to the switch. The connection of the high-voltage output of the GIN, made in the indicated form, with a pulsed charging source eliminates the need to use an additional charging source that supplies voltage to the laser electrodes before igniting the discharge and provides automatic magnetization of the cores of the chokes and magnetic keys to the operating state, which simplifies the operation of the device.
A device made in accordance with the invention has been successfully tested to excite a wide-aperture XeCl laser.
