Abstract
Description
The invention relates to sports, tourist and hunting equipment, to a protective device for cross-country skiing shoes.
Cross-country skiing shoes are attached at the front with rigid clamps for the welts of the boots. Boots and boots for hiking and hunting skiing are held by straps and soft mounts. With all types of fastenings, the back of the shoe is free and rises above the surface of the ski when moving.
A common drawback of such ski bindings is the formation of ice under the sole of the shoe. When ice forms under the sole, the position of the shoe relative to the ski changes, which leads to discomfort of the foot, fatigue of the ankle joint due to slipping of the boot and wobbling of the foot. An inconvenient position of the leg leads to the periodic unhooking of metal mounts and their damage, to additional falls and breakdowns of skis, which in places remote from the camp is fraught with serious consequences for inexperienced tourists. The need to knock out snow and ice from under the sole with a frequency depending on weather conditions leads to lagging of tourists during the passage of the route and delays the movement of the whole group due to waiting for the lagging ones, and for hunters it distracts attention from professional training and creates unnecessary noise when beating ice.
During the thaw, the shoes get wet upon contact with wet snow, from which the feet freeze. In severe frost, hypothermia of the legs also often occurs. For inexperienced tourists on long routes, these shortcomings also often lead to serious consequences.
With frequent wetting, as well as scratching on the snow and ice crust, the performance of the shoe deteriorates, as a result of which it protects the legs worse from external adverse effects, the appearance is lost, and its service life is reduced.
Known protective devices for cross-country ski boots in the form of a cover (shoe covers), having the form of shoes. The cover is sewn with the expectation that a ski boot is placed inside it, which is fixed in front to the ski by means of fastening (see P. Lukoyanov, Winter Sports Campaigns, M. FiS, 1988, pp. 11, 69-70 and Tourist's Quick Reference. M. Profizdat, p. 39-40). All the described devices are aimed at achieving a technical result: improving operational properties by protecting ski boots from snow and moisturizing and keeping feet warm. The sole of the ski boot is insulated from contact with snow.
The disadvantage of all types of fastening shoes for cross-country skiing and all types of protective devices for shoes is the formation of ice from compressed snow under the sole and under the heel, even with elastic rubber pads. As mentioned above, as a result of the appearance of ice, the shoe is skewed, which creates inconvenience when moving, leads to ski jumping off, skiing falling and breaking. With the formation of ice under the sole and heel, there is a need for forced stops to bring down the ice, which leads to a loss of speed.
The prototype of the shoe guard for cross-country skiing proposed by the author is the shoe covers described in the famous book Winter Sports Camping. The main disadvantage of shoe covers is that they are attached to the boot and snow falls under the sole and heel, which contributes to the formation of ice (the author verified this), despite the fact that the sole of the boot is insulated from snow, since shoe covers are only fixed on the front of the shoe on ski.
In addition, shoe covers made of a number of materials become stiff at low temperatures, “tan” (see p. 69 of the prototype), and after getting wet and ice is formed, interference appears that impedes the bending of shoes in icy shoe covers, which makes it difficult to move. After resting on a halt as a result of icing of shoe covers, their fixation in fasteners is often difficult. With a temperature drop due to the formation of an ice crust, the whole shoe cover under the sole of the snow gets more stuffed than it would just be under a shoe without a shoe cover.
The aim of the invention is to improve the operational properties of cross-country (sports, hiking and hunting) skis and the safety of shoes, creating comfortable conditions for the legs when skiing.
This goal is achieved by the fact that the protective device for shoes for cross-country skiing is a boot-shaped boot, rigidly fixed in the lower part to the surface of the ski, which holds inside the shoes, fixed in the front part of the mount. At the same time, the shoes retain the mobility necessary for running, and at the same time they are isolated from contact with snow, which eliminates the formation of ice under the sole, as well as wet shoes and overcooling of the feet. In addition, there is an air gap inside the cover that protects the feet from overcooling in severe frost, which complements the effect created by the boot and dry shoes.
In FIG. 1 - the heel of the shoe touches the ski; in FIG. 2 the heel of the shoe is raised above the surface of the ski with a step.
The arrows indicate the places of fixation of the protective device (boot) and shoes (boot) with ski mounts.
The difference between the device proposed in the application and shoe covers is that the shoe covers are worn or attached to the shoe on the periphery of the sole, and the proposed device is attached with the entire lower part (the sole) or the edges along the contour of the shoe to the ski, and the shoes are placed inside the protective device and fixed only in the front of the ski, while the heel of the boot moves freely (rises and falls) inside the guard when moving or running.
Thus, the proposed device eliminates the ingress of snow under the sole of the shoe (boot) and prevents the formation of ice under the sole and heel. In addition, a change in the mobility of the cover (boot) when it is frozen does not affect the mobility of the legs inside the cover, as a result of which the comfort of movement is maintained under various temperature conditions. Protecting shoes from getting wet helps protect your feet from overcooling.
Another advantage is that at the halt or at the base, the leg with the boot is removed from the protective device, which remains fixed on the ski, which allows you to enter the room without ice and snow on your feet. If necessary, you can disconnect the ski guard with the shoes.
The proposed device can be made depending on the application for cross-country, hiking and hunting skis from leather, artificial leather, plastic, and dense fabric. It can be made entirely from hard material, from corrugated, as well as from hard material at the bottom with a top made of soft material. It is possible to make the protective device dimensionless (into several similar sizes) sliding. The proposed device can be made with or without a sole, but with a hard welt, which it attaches to the ski. The best option is when the protective device is made in the form of a boot, which is fastened with clamps to the ski, and inside there is a boot, fixed in front and with a movable heel.
The manufacture of a protective device is possible from improvised materials in an artisanal way, which does not reduce the positive effect, but the most promising is the manufacture of the proposed device in an industrial way from high quality materials: leather, leather substitute, plastic, used for the manufacture of ski boots, i.e. materials with operational qualities corresponding to winter conditions, which in turn determines the high operational qualities of the device, guaranteeing the long-term service and the appearance of sports shoes. It is also proposed to use special reliable fasteners that fix the proposed device (boot), as well as an elongated upper part that protects sportswear from getting wet and feet from the cold to the knee. The proposed protective device improves the conditions of walking and running on skis, allows you to maintain health in extreme conditions of long ski crossings and increases the service life of shoes and skis. This device has been repeatedly tested by the author on a hunt in severe frost and during the thaw. Received expected positive effect.
