Abstract

A method for determining the severity of genomic stability (instability), genetic variability in groups, populations and in individuals, which consists in determining the frequency of occurrence of red blood cells containing micronuclei in peripheral blood and characterized in that it provides an assessment and control of the severity of genomic stability (instability) in populations , groups and individual fish specimens characterizing the degree of their genetic variation according to the frequency of occurrence of red blood cells containing micronuclei in peripheral of fish blood, as well as, associated with this indicator, the degree of genetic variation of other biological, morphological and economically useful fish characters: growth rate, disease resistance, linear dimensions, fish fecundity, inbreeding degree, degree of domestication and serving as the basis for an accessible, operative, effective, low-budget methodology in the selection of producers for fish breeding and selection; in the matter of preserving the diversity of fish resources, as well as the effectiveness of their (resources) use; is an important component of the ecological basis for assessing the status of populations, groups, and individual fish.
