Способ определения места повреждения линий электропередач и связи, заключающийся в посылке в линию зондирующих сигналов напряжения с времячастотной модуляцией от генератора при согласовании выходного сопротивления последнего с волновым сопротивлением линии в соответствии с заданным диапазоном волновых сопротивлений и требуемой точностью согласования, приеме отраженных сигналов, которые подвергают демодуляции, фильтрации и спектральному анализу, отличающийся тем, что в линию посылают непрерывные сигналы с времячастотной модуляцией, а место повреждения линии определяют по разности частот зондирующего и отраженного сигналов.
