Any guitar notes can be counted into tablature and vice versa both by a person and a computer program according to the table of notes on the fretboard, which some guitarists sometimes do. The advantage of the tablature with respect to standard musical notation is that it saves the guitarist from the need to remember the location of notes on the fretboard.

An informative tablature is known (http://sesmolyakov.narod.ru/nf11hgt1.htm), according to which the fingers of the right hand are indicated directly on the stave, the fingers of the left hand are letters of the Latin alphabet for the chord, the code of which is indicated by numbers. Each of the six digits of the code strictly corresponds to a particular string: the leftmost digit is the sixth string, the rightmost one is the first string. The figure itself indicates the fret number on which this string is pressed. In lowercase Latin letters under the code are the corresponding fingers of the left hand. To increase the speed and simplify the learning process, the claimed utility model is proposed - the position indicator of the finger tablature. The utility model is intended for the sequential translation of the altitude characteristics of musical text from musical staves to standard in the image, but new in functionality, the author’s finger tablature of a six-string guitar in the form of exclusively digits of fingers 1, 2, 3, 4 of the left hand. When signs indicating the duration of a note are added to the finger numbers, the visualization of the tablature increases extremely, and a useful model is proposed for working with such tablature.

Finger tablature is a fundamentally new type of tablature presented by the author, where the notes from the stave are translated into the traditional six-string tablature exclusively with the numbers of the four fingers of the left hand, which makes the melody available to people who do not know the musical notation. Moreover, a person can easily, without outside help, translate any melody from the musical text to the language of the finger tablature with the help of a position pointer, and if he knows the melody, he can immediately play it, and if the melody is unfamiliar, you will only have to learn the duration of the notes, without going into all the other wisdom of musical notation.

The finger finger tab position indicator consists of two interconnected parts: a plate with the image of musical staves and a plate with finger numbers. The main fixed part is made in the form of a plate (cardboard, plastic, metal), on which two note staves are graphically applied. The note mills are divided into measures by time lines. Above each measure are serial numbers that match the serial numbers of the six-string guitar neck. The number “zero” coincides with the conditional beat, which indicates open (not pressed) strings. Each measure contains notes that are extracted on the fret with the corresponding number on the guitar neck. The second part of the device is also made in the form of a plate on which the numbers of the fingers of the left hand are located in the cells, from the index to the little finger (1, 2, 3, 4). The width of the cells, with the numbers of the fingers placed in them, strictly corresponds to the width of the measures on the staves. From the bottom edge of cell number 1 on the left, a cut is made to the bottom of the plate. The same cut is made to the right of cell number 4. When a plate with musical staves is inserted into these slots, then four bars on the staves become limited left and right, and above them are the numbers of the fingers and the numbers that correspond to the frets on the guitar. The limited four frets are assigned the concept of “position”, the name of which is determined by the first of the serial numbers of “position”. For example: the 5th position will include the limited fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth frets on the guitar fretboard. When moving a plate with finger numbers along a plate with staves, you can select and fix any position from zero to ninth, which provides an almost complete range of the guitar from the note “E” of the small octave to the note “E” of the third octave. In any position, you can play a major scale of two octaves.

The device can be used both separately (plastic, metal), and included in the methodological printed material for teaching the guitar (thin cardboard, laminated paper).

The technical result is an increase in the speed of learning and learning the play on a six-string guitar.

An example implementation.

Application example.

Translation of musical text into a finger tab is as follows:

1. Choose a stave in accordance with the key characters of the play.

2. By moving the plate with the numbers of the fingers (Fig. 2) along the plate with the staves (Fig. 1), select the position that includes the range of the musical text of the play on the stave. Lock the position on the device.

3. Prepare a sheet with a standard guitar tab (six rulers schematically depicting the neck of a six-string guitar).

4. Pointing over the six-string guitar tablature the position number sequentially write down the finger numbers under which the notes of your play are located strictly on the tablature string that corresponds to the location of the note on the stave (from top to bottom from the first string to the sixth).

The main differences between finger tablature and tablature used.

1. Visibility. Instead of 12 or more digits, which are set on the corresponding frets of the fret tablature, the finger tablature operates only with the numbers of the fingers of the left hand (1, 2, 3, 4.), which facilitates the visual perception of the tabular text.

2. On the fret tab, the fret numbers are displayed, but the fingers are not indicated with which you need to extract notes on the specified frets. This makes it difficult to read the fret tab, since you still need to figure out with which finger to take the fret indicated by the number, because options are possible.

3. On the finger tablature, the specific finger indicated takes a specific note on a particular fret without any interpretation.

4. On some versions of the fret tab, above the numbers of the fret numbers written on the tab, above the tab, the numbers of the fingers are also written and it is clear that reading this version of the tab is very difficult.

5. Adding to the numbers of fingers in the finger tablature signs indicating the duration (sticks, style, dots, leagues) allows anyone familiar with the duration of notes to play unfamiliar pieces on the guitar right away without knowing the location of the notes on the guitar neck.

6. The ability to easily translate musical text into a finger tab. The translation of musical text into a fret tab is almost impossible without a good musical education.

7. To increase or decrease the overall sound of the play (transpose) up or down - on the finger tablature it is enough only to change the position number, and the finger numbers remain the same. On the fret tab, you will have to rewrite the numbers of all frets in each individual case.

Choose a play. For example, you need to translate the song of M. Blanter into the finger tablature into the words of Katyusha by M. Isakovsky (Fig. 3).

Having determined what the lowest note in the play looks like (suppose we don’t know the names of the notes), we select the third position on the finger tab index. To do this, we move the “fingers” plate along the staves so that it limits the third to sixth frets on them (Fig. 4.). Next, we prepare a sheet with a guitar tab, in which we will enter the "translation" of musical notes on the corresponding tab lines (Fig. 5.).

So, the top line of the tablature is the first (thinnest) string on the guitar. Below are the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th strings.

When translating, special attention should be paid to key signs (Fig. 6). Notes recorded in a play without indicating a flat (A) must be recorded with flat in front of each note (B).

We agreed that we do not know the notes, and therefore we will denote them - the 1st note in the 1st measure, the 2nd note in the 1st measure, etc.

We start the translation. The first note in the 1st measure is the fifth from above under finger number 1, which we fix in the tablature - we write the number one on the fifth string. We find the second note also on the 5th string, but it is under the third finger and we put the number three (finger number) on the fifth ruler on top. We take the first note in the second measure with a flat sign, because it is subject to the action of key signs. She is also on the fifth string, but already under finger number 4. We put 4 on the fifth string. When all the numbers are tabulated, you can indicate the duration of the notes on the tablature in the same way as on the stave. As a result, the translation will look as follows (Fig. 7). The user only has to rearrange fingers in the 3rd position to extract sounds. The melody will sound right.
