Abstract

The face mask (100) with embroidered sensor has for novelty the realization of an interdigital capacitive sensor using embroidery technique. A standard face mask (100) was used for the base, i.e. the base on which the sensor was made, while the sensor structure is an interdigital capacitor (101) which is made silver threads. After making the sensor on the embroidery machine, a sensitive layer (102) is applied over the sensor structure, allows the measurement of changes in humidity or temperature difference in inhaled and exhaled air. This sensitive layer (103) is non-conductive layer. Also are shown, the appearance of the mask on the face of the user (104) and the position of the sensor when using the mask with the embroidered sensor. Two different non-conductive threads were used as the sensitive layer: Burmilon and Polyneon, and their characteristics are shown in the graphs: non-conductive thread (301) Burmilon and non-conductive thread (302) Polyneon.
