Abstract

The process comprises neutralisation with sodium carbonate at the pH required for separation of the copper. Concentration with iron, and precipitation in the form of copper carbonate and hydroxide, gives residual solution containing sodium sulphate for treatment with SO2. Reduction produces sodium sulphide which can be used e.g. carbonated to regenerate the sodium carbonate solution required for initial neutalisation.
