In prepn. of Ca3(PO4)2 (I), orthophosphoric acid contg. at least 50 wt.% of H3 PO4 is neutralised to pH 8.5-11 with milk of lime, the mixt. is stirred vigorously for 20-60 mins., to form a suspension and the prod. is isolated. the H3PO4 content of the orthophosphoric acid is pref.70-87.5%. The molar ratio of CaO:P2O5 in the reaction mixt. is pref. 3.4-3.6:1.
