The invention relates to a process for producing ammonium thiosulphate by synthesizing ammonium hydroxide, sulphur dioxide and elementary sulphur. The synthesis takes place in a single phase by bubbling the sulphur dioxide in a suspension comprising a solution of ammonium thiosulphate, having a concentration from 50 to 60% diluted with ammonium hydroxide solution, having a concentration of 25% and elementary sulphur. The reaction mixture is heated to 75-85 degrees C. The sulphur dioxide and ammonium hydroxide are introduced till the sulphur is integrally consumed. The resulting solution of ammonium thiosulphate is filtered and subjected to the crystallization.
