The invention relates to an improved cowper-stove dome comprising a series of heat insulating layers, consisting of: a self-supporting heat-insulating refractory concrete layer (2) placed in a meshwork of platbands (1) made of heat-resisting steel, a layer which has the function of a heat-insulating expansion joint (8) and can be filled up with a deformable refractory material and three layers of refractory brickwork. According to the invention, the layers of refractory brickwork comprise: an outer layer of heat-insulating bricks (7), an intermediate layer of light mullite bricks (6) of the short-feather-type, with nut and feather profile, and a layer of superaluminous bricks (3) of the long-feather-type, with nut and feather profile, separated from the layer (6) by a polystyrene layer (5) in the central area, and by refractory plastic plates (4) in the lateral areas.
