The invention relates to a method for breeding mussels in waters, underneath the harmful level of the waves, and to the installation for applying said method. According to the invention, during a first stage, the method consists in lowering the means for fixing and breeding the mussels under the harmful level of the waves, for instance, towards the bottom of the sea and further, during the second stage, in lifting said means to the water surface in order to gather in the mussels. The claimed installation is moored by means of mooring means lying on the bootom of the sea and comprises some parallelepipedal platforms (1) resting on a ballast tank (2) bearing some stanchions (13) and some cross-members (14) on which some T-pieces (16) are located, said T-pieces bearing some chords (20) with some fastening rings (21) with some separated collectors (22) or collecting modules (25) hanging therefrom.
