Abstract

The invention relates to a self-centering jaw chuck for chucking cutting and rotary perccussion tools having a pintle or a grooved tang. According to the invention, the chuck comprises a cylindrical body (1) having some equidistant bores (a) in relation to the body axis wherein some bolts (c) are driven, said bolts being components of some jaws (2) ensuring the positioning and the fastening of the tools, said fastening being the result of the rotation of the jaws (2) about the axes of the bolts (c) determined by axial displacement induced by screwing a sleeve (3) with an interior conical surfaces (d) to the body, said surface ensuring the contact of the conical surface with some helicoidal conical surfaces (e) of the jaws (2) along the generatrix and due to the position and the double-prism-shaped active edges enabling the positioning and the chucking of the tools, the jaws being positioned by a spring-ring (4) provided with some curved recesses (g) accomodated in some cuts (h) in the bolts (c); the spring-ring (4) also prevents the bolts from coming out of the bores (a) of the body (1), said body (1) having a smooth cylindrical section (i) for guiding the sleeve (3) said chuck being attachable to the main spindle of a drilling machine by means of a cone (m) or by using an intermediate reduction (5) having a screwed interior surface (o).
