Abstract

The cylinder sealing is tested using an equipment that measures the depression time of a constant volume of air introduced in the explosion chamber. The pressure variation is displayed using a resistant pressure transducer connected to an oscillograph. This unit measures the variation of pressure that was introduced in the piston cover, located at the maximum upper position (PMS). In order to simulate the operating conditions of the cylinder and the piston/piston ring/connecting rod unit, these parts are heated using a thermal agent that circulates through a system of valves.
