Abstract

A pharmaceutical prepn. of hyaluronidase activity for external use in cases of thrombophlebitis, superficial thrombosis, ulcus cruris, varicose complaints, haemorrhoids, haematoma sprains, bruising, infiltration and endemia, uses as starting materials: oceanic scad (Trachurus trachurus) oceanic mackerel or Black Sea anchovies. Viscera, including selected gonads are extracted in successive stages of 24 hrs. each, at 4 deg.C by an acetic acid, sodium-acetate buffer soln. at pH 4.3. Finally the extracts are united at pH 4.3-4.4 and sodium-chloride is added at 90% saturation level, allowed to stand for 24 hrs. at +4 deg.C and centrifuged. The ppte. obtd. is dried in vacuo at max. 40 deg.C. This prepn. utilises fish waste for pharmaceutical purposes. It promotes subcutaneous absorption of injectable medicines, extended diffusion of anaesthetics and accelerated healing of wounds.
