Abstract

Meloplast is granulated for injection moulding of electric insulators. The particle-size distribution is: 16% = below 2mm; 9.75% = 2-16mm; 17% = 1.6-1.25mm; 18% = 1.25-1mm; 9% = 1-0.8mm; 11% = 0.8-0.63mm; 5.25% = 0.5-0.65mm; 14% below 0.5mm dia. of particles. The prepn. material is mixed with a 15% solids PVA soln. at 13-15% proportion. The mixt. is briquetted and they are disintegrated on vibratory screens and are classified into size-fractions. Of these fraction, those are used for moulding which pass sieves of mesh numbers 0.8 and 2.25.
