The invention introduces a tomato hybrid called Splendid (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill). The hybrid, according to the invention, is obtained as a result of testing the combinative capacity of several genetical lines, created by individual selection in hybrid populations; it is designed for fresh consumption and adapted to growing in greenhouses and solariums in all vegetable cultivation areas. The plants have average vigour, undetermined port, average leaf covering, green leafage, average sized, sected and smooth leaf blade; the immature fruit is pale green, globulous, slightly uneven, very firm and, when technically mature, an intense red colour; the inflorescences appear after every three leaves, are simple and compound, have loose clusters of 9-10 fruit, average fruit weight being 90g, with about 85% of extra and first quality. The hybrid is early (approximately 112 days from sprouting to first harvest) and resistant to TMV, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp lycopersici Cladosporium fulvum. Cultivation of the hybrid makes possible an increased tomato production in greenhouses and solariums, a reduction of seed importation and reduced cost of in phytosanitary treatment.
