Abstract

This invention concerns a mechanic stresses tracking and controlling system of the open-air transmission lines elements that is designed for electric power transmission and solves the de-icing issue without deactivating the overhead power lines. For this purpose, the parameters that characterize the deposit on the overhead power line wires are continuously monitored through transducers. The monitored values are sent through a transmission-reception system to a processing computer so that a decision can be made. The monitored parameters may be: weight and dynamics of ice deposits, wind speed, etc. The system is useful for the coordination of the decision-making process for the de-icing of power lines located in mountainous areas.<IMAGE>
