Abstract

The invention concerns a clearing grade measuring installation for thickeners used in processing plants during the thickening of useful mineral substances. In accordance with this invention, the installation consists of an immersion device that includes a submersible probe, fastened on the top with a flexible cable that is driven by a pulley towards a drum. The drum is driven by a gear motor assembly and is mounted in a gearbox that is located on a mechanical arm and a base. The base is equipped with a horizontal rotating device. A probe-washing device is located in the lower gearbox that is supplied with water through an electrical admission valve. In addition, a guide strip is mounted on the gearbox, which is equipped with REED relays that indicate the probe position. The relays are driven by a magnet that is permanently mounted at the top of the rod. Two stop limiters are mounted on the guide strip. In addition, the installation includes a gauge that measures the clearing grade consisting of a source of infrared radiations and two actuators: one receiving the transmitted flow and the second for the broadcast flow; a control device that consists of two amplifiers, two rectifiers, a scaling unit with an output voltage related to the clearing grade that is amplified by a differential amplifier unit; a thermo-regulating module; a voltage-current converter, and a display unit.<IMAGE>
