Abstract
A process for the preparation of cetyl-trimethyl ammonium naproxenate or cetyl-trimethyl ammonium d-2-(6'-methoxy- 2'-naphthyl) propionate of formula <IMAGE> which comprises (a) treating an aqueous solution of a cetyl trimethyl ammonium halide with an ion exchange resin in hydroxy form, (b) reacting the resulting cetyl trimethyl ammonium hydroxide with d-2-(6'-methoxy-2'-naphthyl)-propionic acid, (c) removing water by evaporation, and (d) if necessary purifying the product obtained is described.
