5-Substd. (4,5-C)imidazopyridines of formula (I) and their salts are new. In (I), R1, R2 = H, 1-15C alkyl, 3-8C cycloalkyl, cycloalkyl substd. by one or more 1-6C alkyl; bicycloalkyl having 3-8C in each ring; heterocyclicalkyl having 4-8C which can be opt. substd. by 1-6C alkyl, heteroaromatic having 5 or 6C which can be opt. substd. by 1-6C alkyl; phenyl, phenyl substd. by one or more 1-6C alkyl or halogen; 3-15C alkenyl with the proviso that the double bond cannot be adjacent to the N; 5-8C cycloalkenyl with the proviso that the double bond cannot be adjacent to the N; R1 and R2 cannot both be H; Y = phenyl or phenyl substd. at one or more of the 2,3,5 or 6 position by substits. selected from 1-6C alkoxy, Br, F, Cl, 1-6C alkyl, alkyl substd. with one or more halogen, 1-6C thioalkyl, 1-6C alkoxy-1-6C alkyl, 1-6C hydroxyalkyl, 1-6C alkylthio-1-6C alkyl, CN, 1-6C mercaptoalkyl, amino, 1-6C alkylamino and di(1-6C alkyl)amino; n = 1-5; R3 = a gp. substd. at one or more of the 4, 6 or 7 positions of the pyridine ring selected from H, 1-6C alkyl, Br, F, Cl and 1-6C alkoxy; R4 = H or 1-6C alkyl. 42 Cpds.
