Abstract
Substd. phosphinic and phosphoric acids of formula RR1R2C-CHR3(P(O)XOH) (I) In (I) R is lower alkyl and R1 is H or lower alkyl, or R1 and R2 together with the carbon atom to which they are attached form a 3- 6-membered cycloalkane gp.; R2 is mercapto and R3 is amino, or R2 and R3 together form the gp. of formula (A); R4 and R5 are each lower alkyl; X is H, OH, lower alkyl or aryl. The intermediate thiazolidinyl phosphinic acid phosphoric acids of formula (II) and their acid addn. salts are also new. (I) are pharmaceuticals esp. useful in the treatment of inflammations and degenerative joint disorders such as theumatoid arthritis, and osteoarthritis and Wilson's disease. Suitable daily doses are 250-2000 mg. (II) are intermediate in the prepn. of (I).
