Abstract

Injury to corn, barley, rice, sorghum or wheat by thiocarbamate herbicides is reduced by applying an organophosphorus cpd. of formula (I) to the soil, crop or seed: (where a, b and c are 0 or 1, but not all 0; W, X and Z are O or S; R, R1 and R2 are H; 1-13C alkyl; lower alkyl substd. by lower alkyl, NO2 or halo; lower alkenyl; haloalkenyl; alkynyl; haloalkanoyl, haloalkenylsulphonylalkyl; mono- or dialkylamino; haloalkenyl-thioalkyl; mono- or dialkylcarbamoylalkyl; mono- or dialkyl-thiocarbamoyl; halophenylthio; p-aminosulphonyl-phenyl; p-nitrobenzoyl; halophenylthioalkyl; benzyl; naphthyl opt. mono- or disubstd. by lower alkyl or halogen; alpha-nitromethylbenzyl; alpha-methylbenzyl; or phenyl opt. substd. 1-3 times by 1-13C alkyl, lower alkenyl, halogen, NO2, CN, CF3 or MeS; or one of R, R1 and R2 can be quinolyl, 1-pyridylalkyl, 5-chloro-2-thienylalkyl or N-alkyl-dialkylanilinocarbonyl-alkyl; with the proviso that (i) R2 cannot be H or halophenyl when a = 0, c = 1 and Z = S, (ii) phenyl cannot be substd. by both NO2 and CF3, (iii) R, R1 and R2 cannot all be Me when X = W = O and Z = S, and (iv) R, R1 and R2 cannot all be phenyl when W = X = Z = O).
