Abstract
The hydrogen/hydrocarbon mole ratio is continuous, hydrogen-consuming, hydrocarbon hydroconversion processes, is controlled by employing analyser to monitor composition characteristics of the charge stock of the liquid reaction effluent and the hydrogen concentration of the vapour phase introduced into the reaction zone, and transmitting representative output signals to comparator/computer means which generate additional comparator output signals which are then utilised in the control system for regulating the H2/hydrocarbon ratio. The technique is applicable to processes in which the reaction zone effluent is separated into liquid and hydrogen-rich vapour phases, a portion of the later being recycled in the reaction zone. The method compensates rapidly for changes in charge stock characteristics and operating parameters and maintains catalyst activity and stability.
