Abstract
A PRESENTE INVENÇÃO REFERE-SE AO USO DE HIDROXIL-2,3-DIARILXANTONAS (DAX) COMO AGENTE TERAPÊUTICO DE PATOLOGIAS DEVIDAS A ESPÉCIES REACTIVAS DE OXIGÉNIO. CERTAS POLI-HIDROXI-2,3-DIARIL-9H-XANTEN-9-ONAS APRESENTAM PROPRIEDADES ANTIOXIDANTES MUITO SUPERIORES ÀS DO FLAVONOL QUERCETINA (Q), QUE É CONSIDERADO COMO UM DOS ANTIOXIDANTES MAIS EFICIENTES DA FAMÍLIA POLIFENÓLICA DOS FLAVONÓIDES. NUMA MESMA CONCENTRAÇÃO AS DAX TÊM UM PODER PROTECTOR TRÊS VEZES SUPERIOR AO DA Q EM RELAÇÃO À OXIDAÇÃO DE LIPOPROTEÍNAS DE BAIXA DENSIDADE (LDL) HUMANAS INDUZIDA POR COBRE(II). EM RELAÇÃO AO STRESS OXIDATIVO DE TECIDOS, AS POLI-HIDROXI- 2,3-DIARIL-9H-XANTEN-9-ONAS TÊM UM PODER PROTECTOR QUATRO VEZES SUPERIOR AO DE Q EM RELAÇÃO À CITOTOXICIDADE INDUZIDA PELO HIDROPERÓXIDO DE TERC-BUTILO (T-BUOOH) EM CULTURA DE QUERATINÓCITOS HUMANOS. A REFERIDA EFICÁCIA DAS DAX CONTRA O STRESS OXIDATIVO PODE SER EXPLICADA PELA SUA REACTIVIDADE COM ESPÉCIES REACTIVAS DE OXIGÉNIO (ROS), A QUAL É ILUSTRADA PELAS SUAS REACÇÕES COM ANIÕES DE RADICAL SUPERÓXIDO, RADICAIS PEROXOTRIMETILO E TRP PRODUZIDOS SELECTIVAMENTE POR RADIÓLISE DE IMPULSOS.
