Description
Otrzymywanie takich siatek dyfrak¬ cyjnych wymaga skomplikowanej i precyzyjnej aparatury do mechanicznego nacinania rys. Cieklokrystaliczna warstwa zawarta w siatce dyfrakcyjnej wedlug wynalazku charakteryzuje sie struktura okresowa o dlugosci okresu porów¬ nywalnym z dlugoscia fali swiatla. Siatka dyfrak¬ cyjna z taka warstwa charakteryzuje sie duza sila swiatla ugietego i niska wartoscia stalej siatki.Siatki dyfrakcyjne wedlug wynalazku moga miec dowolnie duze wymiary geometryczne, a siatki takie moga pracowac zarówno w swietle przecho¬ dzacym jak i odbitym. PLThe subject of the invention is a diffraction grating with a liquid crystal layer for causing the phenomenon of bending visible light or other short electromagnetic waves. Commonly known diffraction gratings are transparent plates with lines in the form of scratches or thresholds on the surface. The scratches or thresholds must be placed evenly and parallelly and very densely so that there are more than 1000 scratches per 1 mm. The preparation of such diffraction gratings requires complicated and precise apparatus for mechanical notching the scratches. There are also diffraction gratings made on the plate. photographic method, which is obtained by a holographic method with the use of a laser and with the use of particularly good anti-shake damping in order to obtain a high recording density. Diffraction grids with liquid or liquid crystal layers, resulting from the action of electric or acoustic fields on a liquid medium, are also known. . However, such diffraction gratings are very unstable and have very small dimensions. The object of the invention was to develop a diffraction grating with a liquid crystal layer which could be formed without external field excitation. The diffraction grating according to the invention comprises liquid crystal layers being a mixture of 92-99 , 5% p-methoxybenzylidene-p, n-butylaniline and 8-0.5% abietic acid or pimaric acid, applied to a smooth solid or liquid substrate or between two smooth surfaces, at least one of which is formed on A transparent substrate. The liquid crystal layer contained in the diffraction grating according to the invention is characterized by a periodic structure with a period length comparable to that of the light wave. A diffraction grating with such a layer is characterized by a high power of diffracted light and a low value of a fixed grating. According to the invention, the diffraction gratings can have any geometric dimensions, and such gratings can work both in transmitted and reflected light. The diffraction grating constant depends on the percentage composition of the liquid crystal mixture used and ranges from 0.5 micrometers to 10 micrometers. Due to this property, it is possible to control the dispersion of the diffraction grating produced, and thus to determine the width of the rainbow observed under given conditions. The diffraction grating with the liquid crystal layer according to the invention is stable and does not require any excitation by external fields. PL
