Abstract

A closure suitable of insertion over the opening of a tubular or similarly constructed member and adapted to hermetically seal that opening. The closure construction includes a biased center main wall that particularly adapts it for placement upon the tubular member by a light application of finger pressure to the approximate center of the main wall. Also disclosed is the method of application of such a closure upon a tubular member, and a combined snap-on and locking feature for this closure. [US3679088A]

Description

Uprawniony z patentu: Dart Industries Inc., Los Angeles, Kalifornia (Stany Zjednoczone Ameryki) Odksztalcalne sprezyscie zamkniecie cylindrycznego pojemnika Przedmiotem wynalazku jest odksztalcalne spre¬ zyscie zamkniecie cylindrycznego pojemnika, który na obrzezu ma kolnierz uszczelniajacy przylegajacy do wewnetrznej scianki pojemnika. Wynalazek do¬ tyczy zamkniecia z termoplastycznego tworzywa 5 sztucznego, przeznaczonego do wielokrotnego uzycia w pojemniku o otwartym wylocie. 1, i czesciowy przekrój poprzeczny pojemnika, przedstawiajacy zamkniecie i pojemnik w stanie uszczelnionym; fig. 3 — pokrywe przedsta¬ wiona na fig. 1 i 2 w widoku z dolu; fig. 4; fig. 6 — odmia¬ ne wykonania w przekroju poprzecznym; fig. 7 — przekrój poprzeczny pokrywy wzdluz linii 7—7 na fig. 1; fig. 8 — odmiane wykonania pokrywy i pojem¬ nika w przekroju do fig. 2; fig. 9 — pokrywe widoku z dolu przedstawionego na fig. 8; i fig. 10 — frag¬ ment pokrywy i pojemnika w przekroju poprzecz¬ nym w powiekszeniu wg. fig. 8.Wedlug fig. Brzeg pojemnika 12 rozprzestrze¬ nia sie od stozkowo rozszerzajacego sie kolnierza uszczelniajacego 26 do pierscieniowej scianki la¬ czacej 33, której plaszczyzna przebiega równolegle do plaszczyzny powierzchni pokrywy 14. 8 i 10 zebra 42 wystaja ze scianki 26 wzdluz scianki 33, a nastepnie skie- io rowane sa w dól, wzdluz wewnetrznej powierzch¬ ni scianki zewnetrznej 37. 5. 45 PL PLPatent proprietor: Dart Industries Inc., Los Angeles, California (United States of America) Deformable Closure of a Cylindrical Container The invention relates to a deformable spring closure of a cylindrical container which has a sealing collar adjacent the inner wall of the container at the periphery. The invention relates to a closure made of thermoplastic material, intended to be reused in an open-mouth container. Closures for food storage containers, including those made of thermoplastic materials, are known. They generally consist of a cylindrical vessel or of a cup, chalice, cone, etc.-shaped vessel. and a separate closure or cover made of a relatively elastic material. One of them has a peripheral tape which is positioned on the upper edge of the container wall and is pressed over this edge to seal the two parts of the container tightly. The provision of such a closure typically requires the user to apply pressure to the lid at several points in order to successfully seat it on the container. German patent 1225544 relates to a plastic can, the bottom of which is concave due to the shaping of its slanting planes. This bottom is normally firmly attached to the other can. Disconnection is only possible when force is applied from the inside of the can to the bottom, which in the case of a can closed on all sides and with only a small opening is impossible without use of a special tool. Among the other 30 variations are cork-type closures and expansions, which fit loosely into the container opening and which then expand until contact with the inner surface of the container walls. The above closures suffer from a number of drawbacks and are easily warped due to lack of stiffness, and it becomes of course more difficult, sometimes even impossible, to place the warped lid on the container. In closures of the above-mentioned types, the scope of the closure's materials and dimensions, such as wall thickness, diameter, etc., is also limited to a certain extent. The object of the invention is to provide a cylindrical container closure, the snap-on lid of which will have increased flexibility and tightness. This objective is achieved by the fact that a large part of the surface of the cover consists of corrugations radiating to the edges of the cover. A bevelled or conical center wall of the cover preferably wavy, grooved or corrugated easily and effectively shrinks at the periphery and allows it to return to the edge. expanded position, sealing the cover between the container wall and the sealing collar. When a force is applied to the cover, one of its components is perpendicular to the cover surface, then this surface will undergo elastic contraction due to the described shaping. The lid only needs to be pressed against the rim of the container in one place in order to snap the container tightly around its entire circumference. A flange design that extends conically is preferred, with its largest outer diameter greater than the inner diameter of the container within its opening. Thus, on the one hand, a guide along the widening cone is achieved when the cover is fitted, and on the other hand, a perfect seal. The invention is described in detail by means of an embodiment in the drawing, in which Fig. 1 shows the cover in view. in advance; Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional cover taken along line 2-2 in Fig. 1, and a partial cross-sectional view of the container showing the closure and the container in a sealed state; Fig. 3 is a bottom view of the cover shown in Figs. 1 and 2; 4 is an enlarged cross-section of the upper wall of a container with a lid; FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional variant of the embodiment as shown in FIG. 4; 6 shows various embodiments in cross-section; Fig. 7 is a cross-sectional view of the cover along lines 7-7 in Fig. 1; Fig. 8 is a sectional view of Fig. 2, variants of the lid and the container; Fig. 9 is a cover of the bottom view of Fig. 8; and Fig. 10 is a fragment of the cover and the container in an enlarged cross-section according to 8 According to FIGS. 1-4, the lid 10 is attached to a cylindrical wall 20 container, has a lid flange 12 and a lid surface 14 consisting of a central pressure surface 16. The conical or tapering surface is most preferably constructed of a series of upright truncated folds 18 extending radially from the pressure surface 16 to the edge of the lid 12. These folds have upper edges 38 and lower edges 40 as in FIG. 7. On the outside 28 of the sealing collar 26 on the circumference of the edge of the cover 12 there is a bulge 21 which, when the container is closed, cooperates with a bulge 34 provided on the perimeter of the inner surface 36 of the container wall. The edge of the container 12 extends from the conically widening sealing flange 26 to the annular connecting wall 33, the plane of which runs parallel to the plane of the cover surface 14. The connecting wall 33 borders on the wall 37 which breaks down at right angles. 5, the cover 12 has no ridges 21 and 34 on its upper surface, and the edge of the cover ends with a joining wall 33. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 6, there is also a downward wall 37, which borders connecting wall 33. The wall has a bulge 35 on its inside all around its perimeter, facing the interior of the container. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 8-10, on the underside of the connecting wall 33 and on the inside 867 4 on the inside of the wall 37 are spaced apart ribs 42, usually with a cross-sectional shape close to the "U" profile. The top wall 20 of the container here rests on any desired position. the edges of the ribbons 42, while the execution acc. 1 - 4 it rests on the underside 27 of the connecting wall 33. The zebra bars 42 shown in Figs. 8 and 10 protrude from the wall 26 along the wall 33, and then are directed downwards along the inner surface of the outer wall 37 These ribs are spaced at appropriate intervals along the edge of the cover 12, so that when the cover 10 is applied, air can easily escape from the container 15 20. It should be noted in particular that the protrusion of the ribs 42 along the outer wall 37 prevents the formation of a seal between it. the last one and the container 20 when the lid is put on. This allows a maximum amount of air to escape from the container. However, if the sidewall is relatively flexible, the radial contraction of the smooth taper is theoretically only about one third of that of the corrugated lid. 25 These properties are also characterized by the fact that the radial or lateral deformation increases with the height of the groove and the number of grooves. The press-on cover 10 is made of a thermoplastic plastic, for example low-pressure polyethylene, but it is also possible to use high-pressure polyethylene, polypropylene or mixtures of these. or similar plastics. The container is usually made of the same material as the lid. However, the lid can also be used for containers made of other materials. In order to fit the lid 10 tightly onto the container, pressure must be exerted on the pressure surfaces 16 or on another point of the top surface of the cover 14. The cover is removed below the edge 12, that is, in the case of the cover Fig. 1-4. and 8-9 including the lower edge of the wall 37, and the connecting wall 33 - made according to Fig. 5. 45 PL EN
