Znajdujacy sie w kompozycji tlenek miedziawy w polaczeniu z tlen¬ kiem olowiu, powoduje tworzenie sie w czasie pro¬ cesu naweglania, powloki zapewniajacej bardzo dobra ochrone przed dyfuzja wegla w zakresie tem- 10 peratury 750 do 950°C. Przyklad. Tlenek miedziawy w ilosci 80% wagowych w przeliczeniu na substancje powloko- twórcza zmieszano z tlenkiem olowiu w ilosci 10% wagowych i dodatkiem bentonu w ilosci 1,5% wa¬ to gowych. Do dokladnie wymieszanych wstepnie 772107 77 210 8 skladników dodano 30% roztwór polistyrenu w ksy¬ lenie i ucierano w mlynie kulowym lub tarczo¬ wym. Otrzymana w ten sposób pasta wykazala do¬ bra przyczepnosc do podloza i zapewnila bardzo dobra ochrone przed dyfuzja wegla. [¦¦ »Inventors: Jerzy Baczewski, Danuta Kosmider-Luniewska, Jerzy Birzeziniski Authorized by a temporary patent: Instyftu / t Mechannlki Precyzyjnej, Warsaw (Poland) Paste for protecting steel during the process of carbonization in powders. The subject of the invention is a paste for protecting steel against carbon diffusion in the process of carbonization in powders. The protected surfaces remain soft after the carburizing process and are suitable for mechanical processing. It is known from British patent specification No. 951,089 paste, containing special glaze, clay, nepheline, quartz or modified bentonite and as a binder, epoxy resins, silicone , polyester, polyamide or acrylic dissolved in benzene, toluene, para and metaxylene, kerosene, turpentine or white spirit. In addition, a paste based on magnesium, silicon and aluminum oxides is known. As additives improving the adhesion of the paste to the substrate and regulating the linear expansion coefficient, boron oxides of nickel or chromium and small amounts of silicon are used. Such pastes can only be used in the temperature range 980 to 1200 ° C. The invention relates to a paste for protecting steel during the carburizing process in powders, consisting of heavy metal oxides and an organic binder and an anti-depositing agent. The paste according to the invention contains cuprous oxide in an amount of 40 to 70% by weight and lead oxide in an amount of 5 to 15% by weight and, as an organic binder, modified polystyrene in an amount of 20 to 35% by weight, and also benton in an amount of 0.5. up to 1.5% by weight as an anti-depositing agent. The paste according to the invention, due to the content of the organic binder, is easy to apply and therefore it is possible to securely secure smooth surfaces as well as hard-to-reach places such as holes or threads. The cuprous oxide in the composition, in combination with the lead oxide, creates a coating during the carburizing process which provides very good protection against carbon diffusion in the temperature range of 750 to 950 ° C. The binder used was polystyrene modified with a copolymer of styrene with butadiene, which is a product of styrene copolymerization in the block. Thanks to this, good adhesion of the composition to steel was obtained and sufficient resistance to impact and abrasion of the coating after drying at ambient temperature. To ensure the proper consistency of the composition and preventing it from flowing during the carburizing process, the addition of benton in the amount of 0.5 to 1.5% by weight was introduced. This addition also prevents excessive build-up of the filler. Aluminum stearate or stearic acid may also be used as anti-settling additives. 80% by weight of cuprous oxide, based on the coating substance, was mixed with 10% by weight of lead oxide and 1.5% by weight of benton. A 30% solution of polystyrene in xylene was added to the thoroughly premixed 772 107 77 210 8 components and ground in a ball or disk mill. The paste thus obtained showed good adhesion to the substrate and provided very good protection against carbon diffusion. PL
