The maximum heat load of the side wall is found in the upper part of the hatch furnace. not far under the stove cover. The lining in this part is subject to the fastest wear, and its durability generally determines the length of the inter-renovation periods and the amount of melts achieved. In known solutions of arc furnaces, the durability of the upper part of the shell and sand gutter is increased: by placing a sand gutter on the outside of the shell, by installing ring-shaped water chambers and selecting expensive high-refractory materials for the lining of this part of the furnace. Notwithstanding this, without changing the aforementioned measures, it is also known, though little widespread, of gradual expansion of the furnace armor towards the upper edge The aim of the invention is to increase the durability of the lining of the upper part of the furnace with as simple and inexpensive means as possible. This aim has been achieved in the solution according to the invention because the sand gutter is attached to the upper edge of the flared tub with the bottom. the armor cover so that at least half the width of the gutter protrudes into the furnace interior, part of the refractory lining of the inclined part of the armor made of refractory shapes and blocks is under the part of the sand gutter that protrudes into the furnace, so that the sand gutter presses the shapes of the lining from above, preventing them falling out. The protection of the inner wall of the sand gutter is ensured by a layer consisting of highly fire-resistant shapes, possibly covered with a ring of shapes or blocks made of a refractory material typical for the entire furnace lining, e.g. acid or alkaline. and the lining, the lining strength increased by about 30-40 melts without the need to install water cooling chambers or armored refractory shapes. Another characteristic feature of placing the sand gutter on the upper edge of the armor is the possibility of expanding the armor in the existing furnaces without distortions, i.e. ¬ cover. An example of the application of the invention is shown in the drawing showing the cross section of the upper part of the hatch furnace tank. The steel armor 2 in the upper part of the tank expands and deviates from the vertical by about 15 °, and the sand gutter 10 is welded to the top along the edge of the armor 2 so that the greater half of the width of the gutter 10 protrudes into the interior of the furnace. The insertion of the upper, widening part of the furnace tub is jammed between the sand gutter 10 5 and the lining 1 of the vertical part of the tub, so that the lining is not it crumbles and breaks so quickly. Due to the inclination of the armor 2, the gaps 3 formed between the lining and the panic 2 of the furnace are leveled with a refractory material suitable for a given lining in the form of ground, and the unevenness of the lining on the inside of the bathtub is advantageous as they provide better adhesion for dolomite applied after each drain. Sufficient fire protection of the sand gutter 10 is provided by a brick layer 6, 7 made of shapes resistant to very high temperatures and variable thermal loads, preferably chromomagnesite, additionally covered, although not necessarily with shapes 8, 9 made of refractory material such as from which the entire lining of the furnace tub was made, for example, from dolomite in furnaces with basic lining. When the furnace is operated with the lit electrode between the electrode and the drip pan, there is a hatch extending upwards part 2 of the furnace shell, which, together with the cover, lies in the zone of the highest temperatures, it is protected against burning and deformation by with a layer of fire-resistant shapes 4 clamped between the sand gutter 10 and the elongation 1 of the vertical part of the bath, which protects them against chipping, falling out and thus lining against too quick wear. The stepped walls formed in the upper part of the tub at the armor 2 and inside provide good conditions for increasing the lining resistance to sudden temperature changes that occur relatively frequently in arc furnaces and for improving the adhesion of these walls for post-drain repairs.
