Jako surowca uzywa sie wegla drzewne¬ go, kamiennego lub pólkoksu i koksu.Jako lepiszcze stosuje sie smole pochodzaca z termicznego rozkladu wegli kamiennych, brunat¬ nych, ropy i drewna. Aktywatory wprowadza sie, albo bezposrednio do surowca weglowego, albo do lepiszcza przed zmieszaniem tego ostatniego z su¬ rowcem. W przypadku kiedy aktywatory wprowa¬ dza sie do lepiszcza o charakterze kwasnym, do¬ biera sie takie ilosci aktywatora w postaci tlen¬ ków, wodorotlenków lub soli metali alkalicznych, azeby nastapilo zobojetnienie lepiszcza. Zobojet¬ nione lepiszcze z wprowadzonymi aktywatorami miesza sie nastepnie z surowcem.Stwierdzono, ze mozna znacznie skrócic czas produkcji wegla aktywnego oraz uzyskac produkt o wysokiej jakosci, jezeli zwiazki metali alkalicz¬ nych wprowadzi sie do smoly uprzednio zneutra¬ lizowanej amoniakiem do pH — 7—9. Ten sposób wprowadzenia metali alkalicznych skraca czas aktywacji o 35—40% oraz zmniejsza zuzycie pary i koksu okolo 50%. Uzyskuje sie równiez dodatko- 15 20 25 wa moc produkcyjna zwiekszajac przepustowosc istniejacych pieców obrotowych.Neutralizacje smoly amoniakiem korzystnie pro¬ wadzi sie w zbiorniku metalowym wylozonym plytkami weglowymi i zaopatrzonym w wezownice parowa wykonana z miedzi. Przyklad. Do zbiornika wlewa sie okolo 400 kg smoly drzewnej o zawartosci paku 55—60% i pH = 3. Podgrzewa ja do temperatury 50—60°C, wlacza mieszadlo i dodaje wolno okolo 5 litrów wody amoniakalnej stezonej do uzyskania pH = 9.Nastepnie sporzadza sie stezone roztwory wodoro¬ tlenku sodu i potasu. Nastepnie miesza sie go. z 600 kg roz¬ drobnionego surowca i z przygotowanej pasty wy¬ prasowuje sie granule. For this purpose, usually ground carbon raw material is mixed with a binder and an activator which is an alkali metal, and granules are pressed from the obtained paste, which after drying are activated at a high temperature, optionally with the use of superheated steam. The raw material used is charcoal, hard coal, semi-coke, and coke. The binder is tar derived from the thermal decomposition of hard coal, lignite, oil, and wood. Activators are introduced either directly into the raw coal or into the binder before mixing it with the raw material. When activators are added to an acidic binder, sufficient amounts of activator, in the form of alkali metal oxides, hydroxides, or salts, are selected to neutralize the binder. The neutralized binder with the added activators is then mixed with the raw material. It has been found that activated carbon production time can be significantly shortened and a high-quality product obtained by introducing alkali metal compounds into tar previously neutralized with ammonia to a pH of 7-9. This method of introducing alkali metals shortens the activation time by 35-40% and reduces steam and coke consumption by approximately 50%. Additional production capacity is also obtained by increasing the throughput of existing rotary kilns. Neutralization of tar with ammonia is preferably carried out in a metal tank lined with carbon plates and equipped with a copper steam coil. Alkali metals are added to the thus neutralized tar in the form of aqueous solutions of alkali metal oxides, hydroxides, or salts. The resulting binder is mixed with the crushed raw material, and the resulting paste is pressed into granules, which, after drying, are activated at high temperature, or alternatively, using superheated steam. Example: Approximately 400 kg of wood tar with a pitch content of 55-60% and a pH of 3 is poured into a tank. It is heated to 50-60°C, the mixer is turned on, and approximately 5 liters of concentrated ammonia water, concentrated to a pH of 9, are slowly added. Concentrated solutions of sodium and potassium hydroxide are then prepared. To do this, slowly add 3 kg each of sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide to 6 liters of water while stirring constantly. Pour the prepared hydroxide solution into the neutralized tar and stir for another 15 minutes. This produces approximately 400 kg of binder. It is then mixed with 600 kg of crushed raw material, and the resulting paste is pressed into granules. The pressed granules are dried at 600°C in a rotary dryer to a volatile matter content of 10-15%, and then activated at 800-900°C using superheated steam.
