Abstract

The subject of the application is an autonomous, mobile device for measuring ionizing radiation dose, utilizing the optically stimulated photoluminescence (OSL) technique. The device comprises a housing made of a material impervious to external light and with low attenuation of gamma and X-ray radiation. The central part of the housing contains an OSL optoluminescent material mounted in a holder and connected to an optical system consisting of an excitation beam source, an input set of optical filters, and a light detector in a manner that prevents its physical separation during normal operation of the device. The OSL optoluminescent material is preceded by a laser diode with a wavelength adapted to the OSL material used, and the appropriate set of optical filters is placed behind the material. Furthermore, the device comprises a power module and electronics for processing and simultaneously recording the measured signal. The subject of the application also concerns a method for measuring ionizing radiation dose using OSL optoluminescent dosimetry with real-time readout capability.
