PLPublished on January 16, 1962 m l, y "¦" * ¦. \ IBIBLIO POLSKIEJ RZECZYPOSPOLITEJ LUDOWAJ PATENT DESCRIPTION No. 45192 KI. 42 I, 1/01 Jeleniogórska Wytwórnia Optical *) Przedsiebiorstwo Panstwowe Wyodrebniane Jelenia Góra, Poland Method of segregating glass products in terms of the refractive index of light The patent has been in force since 18 January 1961 The method concerns the segregation of glass products in terms of the refractive index of light. the applied methods of segregating glass products in terms of the refractive index of light consisted in determining its absolute value or deviation from the nominal value, requiring polished or at least smooth transparent measuring surfaces * When applied to semi-finished products with non-transparent or non-transparent surfaces, these methods are useless. Grinding and polishing of the measuring surfaces on them is a cost- *) The patent owner stated that the inventors were co-authors Florian Rata Jczyk and Wladyslaw Rój. It is difficult, time-consuming and in the vast majority of cases leads to their destruction. The tests carried out on optical glass have shown that for each type of glass there is a linear dependence of the refractive index of light on the glass density. Using the detected dependence, the problem of segregating glass products in terms of the refractive index of light has been reduced to their division in terms of density. ¬ at the glass density corresponding to the upper or lower limit of the refractive index for a given product. Glass products placed in the liquid prepared in this way segregate under the light refractive index, while those with this coefficient within tolerance fall to the bottom, while the rest float on the surface or vice versa.
