Abstract

The subject of the application is the method of making flexible ballistic armor and the armor made in this way, intended especially for use in vests and special protective clothing. Flexible ballistic armor with a thickness of 8 - 10 mm contains a layer of ceramic ballistic plates (1) embedded in the polymer matrix (2), possibly with an additional layer of ballistic material (3) protecting the plates. As a polymer matrix, a chemically cured isocyanate-based polymer or silicone rubber is used, preferably with the addition of a rheological liquid. The armor used together with the primer protects against penetration of new generation pistol ammunition as well as standard shrapnel, with a reduction of the ground deflection arrow relative to the primer by at least 40%.
