Abstract
Cały opisany proces prowadzi się w ściśle kontrolowanych warunkach temperatury i pH.The method of hydrothermal skin treatment allows the production of leather intended for the production of clothing items (e.g. footwear elements, belts and the like) that will be subject to enlargement, in a way "growing" during their use. The developed hydrothermal skin treatment process is carried out at the initial stage of finishing the skin. It allows obtaining anisotropic skin contraction with reversible features. The hydrothermal treated starting material is tanned leather of animal origin, for example cattle, which is heated in water or in a dilute neutral salt solution. The skin during the heat treatment process is usually fixed on a rigid frame and subjected to stretching forces in two perpendicular directions, where the ratio of these forces does not exceed the proportion of 1 to 100. However, the shrinking process is carried out by heating the bath gradually and intensively mixing. The skin is then rinsed in citrate or similar buffer usually at a certain pH. At the next stage of the hydrothermal process, the frames with the skins are dried. The entire described process is carried out under strictly controlled temperature and pH conditions.
