Abstract

The subject of the invention is a knitted fabric for surgical applications, in particular for supplying hernias by open or laparoscopic methods made of monofilament polypropylene yarn with a linear mass in the range 20 dtex to 72 dtex, characterized in that the size of the knitted openings is along the row from 0.9 mm to 3.0 mm, and along the columns from 1.2 mm to 2.9 mm, while the knitwear's breaking strength in the longitudinal direction is in the range from 26 N to 160 N, and in the transverse direction from 33 N to 210 N, and the deformation in the longitudinal rupture of the fabric in the longitudinal direction is from 48% to 195%, and in the transverse direction from 32% to 125%, while the deformation at 16 N load of the knitwear is in the longitudinal direction from 7% to 110% and in the transverse direction from 2.5% up to 145%, while the knitted openwork has an even shape, similar to a hexagon, circle or rhombus. The invention also relates to a method of producing knitted fabric for surgical applications.
