Abstract

The subject of the invention is a method for raising the bottom of the maxillary sinus (otherwise known as a sinus lift) and a device for raising the bottom of the maxillary sinus. The device for lifting the bottom of the maxillary sinus is a flexible membrane (1) with reinforcements in the form of crossbars (2) made of steel wire. The membrane (1) is made of biocompatible material, most often of goretex. Strengthening crossbars (2) are good to make from shape memory material, then they are given the shape of the bottom of the sinus obtained from a CT scan, which ensures the correct shape of the reconstructed sinus bottom. In the closed method, the membrane (1) is inserted under the mucous membrane of the maxillary sinus (7), e.g. using an applicator in the form of a cylinder (3) with a pusher (4). The cylinder (3) consists of an inlet cylinder (3a) and an introducer foot (3) connected by a conical funnel (3c). The applicator foot is placed in the bone hole (9) at the implantation site. Into the inlet cylinder (3a) of the applicator cylinder (3), a coiled diaphragm (1) is inserted and the piston (5) of the pusher (4) moves the diaphragm (1) through the conical part (3c), where the diaphragm (1) forms an umbrella shape and so the complex membrane (1) is inserted through the leg (3b) located in the hole in the bone (9) under the mucosa of the bottom of the sinus (7) in the place of implantation - there the membrane (1) decomposes and arranges according to the given shape under the mucosa lifting her up.
