PL PLOpoMlk«waa» on January 1, 1956 * o %%U M, 1 £ * POLISH PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC PATENT DESCRIPTION No. 40176 KI. 42 k, 18/01 Institute of Wood Technology*) Poznań, Poland Sawmill indicator The patent is valid from April 1, 20, 1956. The invention relates to a device for continuously controlling the setting of the feed mechanism of sawmills, namely the so-called sawmill indicator. It is designed in such a way that very precise results can be obtained, and it is possible to establish, in the form of a graph on paper tape, the interdependence of the frame movements of the sawmill and the forward movement of the log being sawn on the one hand, and the frame movements and the movement of the feed rollers on the other. The sawmill indicator according to the invention consists of two basic parts, namely: a reducer and a device for moving the paper tape. In the drawing, Fig. 1 shows the indicator in a side view, Fig. 2 — the indicator in a top view and Fig. 3 — the indicator in a V-shaped view from the side of the reducer drum.*) The patent owner declared that the co-authors of the invention are engineer Romuald Dziewanowski and engineer Henryk Dziewanowski. The indicator according to the invention, unlike the ones known so far, has a specially made and mounted reducer recording the graph of the frame stroke in a reduced size, preferably ten times, which enables analysis of the graph. This reducer is made in the form of a drum 7 on which a cable is wound, guided by pulleys 8, securing the cable against falling from the drum 7 (Fig. 1, 2). This cord is connected at will to the frame of the frame saw and causes the drum 7 to rotate depending on its stroke. The reduction drum is mounted in a rotatable and slidable manner with its axis in a sleeve 22 secured in a bearing 21. A drum with an arm supporting the pulleys 8 is fixedly mounted on the sleeve 22, and a flat spiral spring 24 is wound in this drum, attached at one end to the fixed sleeve 22, and at the other end it has, for example, an eyelet into which a pin 31 attached to the drum 7 engages. The flat spiral spring 24, acting on the pin 31, provides the necessary tension to the string connected to the frame saw and enables the return movement of the reduction drum. The drum axis 7 has longitudinal movement in the sleeve 22, and its end is provided with a sleeve 25 on which a cord is wound and connected by a hook 19 to a self-recording device 18 recording on a moving tape, the feed of which is controlled by the feed of the log being sawn or by the feed roller of the sawmill. The sleeve 25 is immobilized on the drum axis 7 by a nut 26, which allows for selecting the appropriate travel limit of the self-recording device 18. The sleeve 22 is adjustable mounted in the bearing 21 and, depending on the need to adjust its position, can be adjusted relative to the bearing 21 by means of flat threads. Paper tape feeding device; proportionally to the movement of the log being sawn or the rotation of the feed rollers, it consists of a body 1, to which a guide 2 is attached and a self-recording device 18 in the form of a guide made of light metal or textolite, in which a pen is inserted. The guide is pulled by a string attached to a hook 19 wound around the sleeve 25 of the drum 7 axle. A helical spring 20 provides a constant tension of the string and advances the guide towards the spring, and its tension can be adjusted with a nut. Recording takes place on a paper tape 10, sliding on a drum 3 (Fig. 1, Fig. 3) under a transversely moving self-recording device 18, which plots the records in the form of a graph! The tape 10 surrounds the driving drum 3 and is pressed to it by two rollers 4. The roll of paper tape is placed on the axle 30. The conical spring 16 tightened by the nut 15 provides sufficient resistance to the unwinding paper to prevent it from tangling (fig. 3). The drum 3 is driven by a toothed wheel 5, which can be coupled to the shaft of this drum by means of a clutch 13 pressed by a helical spring 14. The toothed wheel 5 is driven by a Gall chain, which is attached to both ends of the log being sawn, or it also surrounds the toothed wheel mounted on the axle of the lower roller. feed saw. In the case when the Gall chain is driven from the log being sawn, the tensioning gear 6 is lowered on the arm 11 so that the Gall chain covers a certain part of the circumference of the gear wheel 5. The vibration of the arm 11 is eliminated by tightening the screw 33, which causes the body to be immobilized. In the case of the drive from the gear wheel mounted on the axis of the feed roller of the saw, the screw 33 is released and the tensioned coil spring 32 acts as a tensioner of the Gall chain through the gear wheel 6. The entire device is placed on legs 21, 28, attached to the floor next to the saw. These legs are removable, with the vertical leg 28 being extendable if necessary, and the legs 27 being more or less inclined, so that the height of the indicator in relation to the saw can be adjusted.
