Abstract

The subject of the invention is a device and method for administering aerosols from pressurized containers in order to obtain high aerosol deposition at the site of drug action, limit drug deposition in the oral cavity and limit the loss of drug with exhaled air. The set for controlled breathing administration of aerosol from a pressurized container consists of a chamber connected to a pneumotachograph and a spirometer mouthpiece. The set may also include a mask, inhalation and exhalation valve. The method of administering the drug is that the patient, before induced inspiration, triggered by manual or mechanical administration of the drug into the chamber, exhales into or outside the chamber. The method of administering the drug involves individually adjusting the air flow during inspiration in order to obtain maximum aerosol deposition at the site of drug action. The method of administering the drug involves performing single or multiple small-volume inhalations in order to obtain maximum aerosol deposition at the site of drug action and to limit drug emission to the environment.
