Description
Powyzsza emullsje wytwarza sie wedlug wynalazku w sposób nastepujacy. Ziemie lub glinke aktywowana zarabia sie woda z dodatkiem pewnych soli nieorganicznych, np. chlorków lub fosforanów, w celu wy¬ tworzenia zawiesiny. Emruilsja ta ponadto posiada wlasciwosci klejaee, mozna ja wiec stosowac jako lep- nik do juty, drzewa, plyt korkoiwych, filco¬ wych, do plyt z wiórów drzewnych i innych materialów. PLUntil now, solutions of this material in volatile organic solvents, e.g. benzene, solvent-kerosene or gasoline, have been used for the production of insulation layers, the basic component of which is asphalt. However, they have the disadvantage that they cannot be applied to a wet substrate because of their hydrophobic properties. Moreover, due to the presence of a volatile and easily flammable solvent, they give off an unpleasant odor for a long time and are flammable. The formulation according to the present invention is an emulsion made of asphalt and activated earths or clays which are used as emulsifiers. These emulsions, having the consistency of a paste or thick cream, can be diluted with water and applied even to a moist substrate as it is it is devoid of hydrophobic properties. This type of emulsion, when applied to the substrate and dried, gives an insulating asphalt layer closely adhering to the surface of the building and resistant to the action of water. The above emulsions are prepared according to the invention in the following manner. The earth or activated clay is made into water with the addition of certain inorganic salts, for example chloride or phosphate, to form a slurry. This slurry is heated to a temperature above the solidification point of the asphalt. This temperature, depending on the type of asphalt to be treated, is between 60 and 400 ° C. Then, while vigorously stirring, the mixture is added to the slurry in a liquid slurry, that is, heated to 100-140 ° C. Mixtures of emulsifying agent in the form of a water suspension, earth or activated clay with asphalt are brought to a homogeneous dispersion state by means of colloidal mills or mixers equipped with a rapidly rotating agitator or other known devices. the emulsions are applied after possible dilution with water to the surfaces to be insulated. After drying, it forms a water-resistant layer. Moreover, it has adhesive properties, so it can be used as an adhesive for jute, wood, cork, felt, wood shavings and other materials. PL
