Abstract
The propeller (2) rotates about a vertical axis and is geared (7) to a worm drive (3) with a one-way clutch (15) driving three planetary gears (20-22) and the stator (5) of the generator (4). The rotor (6) is coupled to an underlying planetary gear (40) controlled by a hydraulic pump set (27). The tachometers (31,45,46) ensure that the rotor (6) and stator (5) rotate with constant relative angular velocity as the speed of the wind varies. Above max. speed, fluid is pumped (30) into a hydraulic reservoir. ADVANTAGE - Propeller idles at speeds below min. necessary for generation of constant power.
