It has been found that the use of this device provides particular advantages also when the conversion of hydrocarbons is carried out under reduced pressure. , but common, but in this reaction there is a concern about the undesirable decomposition of hydrocarbons, e.g. carbon separation, or the undesirable polymerization of the resulting products by the catalytic effect of the reacted components. The wall lining of the furnace is prevented from penetrating the pores of the furnace wall by larger amounts of gas, so that with the continuous decomposition of the reaction gases, no greater gas losses can arise.
