Opis wynalazkuDescription of the invention
Przedmiotem wynalazku jest podbudowa zasadnicza konstrukcji podatnej nawierzchni drogowej o wysokiej trwałości zmęczeniowej. The subject of the invention is the main substructure of a flexible road surface with high fatigue strength.
Designing asphalt mixtures begins with a proposed initial mix composition based on general guidelines, and subsequent modifications based on engineering and expert knowledge lead to the final mix composition. Detailed requirements for the properties of aggregates used in asphalt mixtures, including grading, geometric, physical and chemical properties, and asphalt binders, recognized in Poland as standard, are contained in the documents "WT-1 2014 - Aggregates for asphalt mixtures and surface treatments on national roads. Aggregates - Technical Requirements - Warsaw 2014 - General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways" and "WT-2 2014 - Asphalt pavements on national roads - Asphalt mixtures - Technical Requirements - Warsaw 2014 - General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways." In addition, the document "WT-2 2014 (...)" contains requirements regarding the properties of ready-mix asphalt.
Dzięki dodatkowi granulatu gumowego można uzyskać efekt sprężystości i wyciszenia warstwy, a włókna polimerowe z recyklingu pełnią funkcję mikrozbrojenia. Road pavement structural systems known and used in road construction consist of a wearing course, a binder course, and a base layer made of aggregate and asphalt binder mixtures. Structures with this layer arrangement are constructed using continuous-grained asphalt mixes in the binder course and base layer, asphalt concrete or high-modulus asphalt concrete, and continuous or discontinuous-grained asphalt mixes in the wearing course, asphalt concrete, SMA (grit mastic), and BBTM (thin-surface asphalt concrete). Asphalt structural layers of road pavements can be applied using either hot or cold processes. Traditional pavement layers made of mineral-asphalt mixtures, after compaction, form a compact, tight structure. Traditionally, asphalt mixes are used to construct the pavement layers, with an asphalt binder as the binding material. In traditional construction solutions, individual asphalt pavement layers are responsible for transferring loads to the lower layers, and the appearance of cracks in them is a function of traffic intensity and the surface's service life. A known solution involves the porous wearing course, developed at the Road and Bridge Research Institute, for creating a hot-rolled wearing course with anti-cracking and sound-deadening properties. It consists of aggregate and regular or modified asphalt, along with additives such as rubber granulate and polymer fibers derived from recycled car tires. The addition of rubber granulate provides a springy and sound-deadening effect, while the recycled polymer fibers act as micro-reinforcement. The disadvantage of this solution is its reduced performance in winter conditions and its reduced durability compared to sealed surfaces. In addition to anti-cracking wearing courses, intermediate anti-cracking layers are also used. Their function is to disperse stresses resulting from cracking in the hydraulically bonded subbase layer, thus minimizing reflected cracking. A geogrid is used to create intermediate anti-cracking layers. It can be placed under the wearing course, embedded in the binder course, or placed on the subbase along with a leveling layer of mineral-asphalt mix.
W opisie patentowym PL214138B1 ujawniono sposób wytwarzania asfaltu fluksowanego, pozwalającego wytworzyć mieszankę mineralno-asfaltową w obniżonych temperaturach, z wykorzystaniem fluksantu będącego produktem utleniania olejów roślinnych i/lub estrów kwasów tłuszczowych olejów roślinnych utlenianych w obecności katalizatora metalicznego i nadtlenku organicznego.Patent description PL214138B1 discloses a method for producing fluxed asphalt, which allows for the production of a mineral-asphalt mixture at reduced temperatures, using a flux being a product of oxidation of vegetable oils and/or fatty acid esters of vegetable oils oxidized in the presence of a metal catalyst and an organic peroxide.
According to patent descriptions PL241133B1 and PL240955B1, the dispersed reinforcement effect is known to occur as a result of using an appropriate amount of a specific type of fiber. Dispersed reinforcement in asphalt mixtures can positively influence one or more of their technical parameters, most commonly fatigue resistance, crack resistance, tensile strength, and sensitivity to temperature changes. Such additives are rarely used in asphalt mixture technology due to their limited effectiveness and the relatively high cost of using commonly known solutions in this field.
Patent GB 1407229 also describes a road surface design with an intermediate anti-cracking layer placed between the asphalt wearing course and the cracked concrete base. The anti-cracking layer is a thin viscoelastic layer made of a mineral-asphalt mixture with the addition of crushed rubber. This mixture is intended for cold application. The disadvantage of this solution is its lower durability and resistance to aging compared to hot-applied mixtures.
Patent description PL226747B1 also describes a road surface structure with increased fatigue life, consisting of a wearing course made of a hot-laid mineral-asphalt mixture, a binding course made of a hot-laid mineral-asphalt mixture with continuous or discontinuous graining, a sub-base, and an anti-cracking course made of a hot-laid mineral-asphalt mixture with continuous or discontinuous graining, laid on the sub-base, where the anti-cracking course is a mineral-asphalt mixture with the addition of a rubber-asphalt binder in the form of a homogeneous mixture of asphalt modified with a mixture of thermally stabilized rubber with an oil plasticizer. The advantage of this solution is the increased service life, which allows for extending the service life of the entire structure without the need to rebuild the binder layer. The disadvantage of this solution is the need to produce the binder using a special installation and the inability to store the rubber-asphalt binder over time and the inability to transport it over long distances.
Ponadto w polimeroasfalcie stosuje się fluksant będący produktem utleniania estrów kwasów tłuszczowych oleju rzepakowego w obecności katalizatora metalicznego w postaci soli kobaltu i nadtlenku organicznego w postaci wodoronadtlenku kumenu, przy czym grubość warstwy podbudowy wynosi od 8 cm do 12 cm.The main substructure of a flexible road surface structure with high fatigue strength, according to the invention, is characterized in that it is made of a mineral-asphalt mixture of the asphalt concrete type with a high stiffness modulus in the range from 11,000 MPa to 17,000 MPa, with the addition of dispersed reinforcement in the form of basalt fibers in an amount from 0.1% to 0.3% m/m, preferably from 0.15% to 0.25%, characterized by a length in the range from 16 mm to 32 mm, preferably 24 mm, a diameter from 10 μm to 50 μm, preferably < 0.03 mm, a density of 2.55-2.75 Mg/ m3 and a melting point of more than 250°C. The mineral-asphalt mixture intended for the base course contains natural aggregates in an amount of 94.5% to 95.5% and water-foamed fluxed polymer modified asphalt in an amount of 4.5% to 5.5%. It is produced at a temperature of 160°C. The polymer modified asphalt used contains a styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) triblock copolymer as a polymer modifier in an amount of 2% to 5% by weight of the base asphalt binder. Furthermore, the polymer modified asphalt uses a flux obtained by oxidizing rapeseed oil fatty acid esters in the presence of a metal catalyst in the form of a cobalt salt and an organic peroxide in the form of cumene hydroperoxide, with the base course thickness ranging from 8 cm to 12 cm.
The warm-produced and laid base layer is characterized by the use of dispersed reinforcement in the form of basalt fibers and water-foamed fluxed polymer asphalt.
The patented solution produces a mineral-asphalt mixture at a reduced temperature, characterized by basic technical parameters comparable to those produced using traditional methods, and also exhibiting significantly improved fatigue resistance. This effect is achieved through the synergy of the simultaneous use of basalt fiber reinforcement, an asphalt binder in the form of water-foamed asphalt, and flux. Basalt fibers, acting as dispersed microreinforcement, positively influence the mechanical and rheological properties of the finished mixture, favorably affecting stress redistribution and limiting the formation of microcracks in the mineral-asphalt mixture. As a result, the fatigue life and crack resistance of the mineral-asphalt mixture and the pavement layer made from it are increased. Foamed asphalt binder, characterized by its high ability to encapsulate the mineral mixture and basalt fibers, enables the production of a homogeneous mineral-asphalt mixture at low temperatures, free of internal notches (stress concentrators). By reducing the viscosity of foamed asphalt, the addition of fluxant increases the ability of the asphalt foam to encapsulate the mineral mixture and facilitates compaction of the mineral-asphalt mixture during its incorporation into the pavement, offsetting the negative impact of dispersed reinforcement on its workability. Asphalt binder with fluxant retains high stiffness, resistance to high temperatures, and elasticity after the mineral-asphalt mixture is incorporated, positively impacting the operational properties and durability of the asphalt pavement using this binder.

The mineral-asphalt mixture intended for the construction of a road pavement base course, according to the invention, contains natural aggregates in an amount of 94.5% to 95.5% and water-foamed fluxed polymer asphalt in an amount of 4.5% to 5.5%, is characterized in that it is produced at a temperature of 160°C and contains basalt fibers in an amount of 0.1% to 0.3%, preferably from 0.15% to 0.25%. The basalt fiber has a length of 24 mm, a diameter of < 0.03 mm, a density of 2.55-2.75 Mg/ m3 , and its melting point is greater than 250°C.
