Opis wynalazkuDescription of the invention
Przedmiotem wynalazku jest sposób syntezy cyklicznych ketali o strukturze przedstawionej na wzorze ogólnym 1.The subject of the invention is a method for the synthesis of cyclic ketals with the structure shown in the general formula 1.
Fotokataliza zyskuje coraz większą popularność, zdobywając tym samym coraz szerszy wachlarz zastosowań, takich jak uzdatnianie wody, oczyszczanie powietrza, czujniki, ogniwa słoneczne, filtracja wody czy oczyszczanie ścieków. Wielkość globalnego rynku fotokatalizatorów oszacowano w 2016 r. na 1,65 mld USD (Photocatalyst Market Size, Share & Trends Analysis Report By Materiał (Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide), By Application (Selfcleaning, Air Purification, Water Purification), By Region, And Segment Forecasts, 2018-2025, 2017). Photocatalysis is becoming more and more popular, gaining an increasingly wider range of applications, such as water treatment, air purification, sensors, solar cells, water filtration and sewage treatment. The size of the global photocatalysts market was estimated at USD 1.65 billion in 2016 (Photocatalyst Market Size, Share & Trends Analysis Report By Material (Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide), By Application (Selfcleaning, Air Purification, Water Purification), By Region, And Segment Forecasts, 2018-2025, 2017). The development of industry leads to an increase in water and air pollution, resulting in a growing demand for new solutions, also in the area of new materials. Photocatalysts are environmentally friendly materials that do not require complicated technical infrastructure for their activation. In addition, they also enable a number of chemical reactions to be carried out, significantly reducing costs in organic synthesis. Currently, we are looking for catalysts that will be stable, non-toxic, environmentally friendly and generate less waste and by-products, and at the same time highly active and regenerable. The demand for such materials is perfectly met by nanomaterials based on titanium dioxide TiO2, because among the available carriers they are distinguished by low cost, low toxicity, chemical stability (both to light and the surrounding environment) and high photoactivity.
Wśród zalet tlenku tytanu(IV) można wymienić wysoką fotoaktywność, wysoką stabilność chemiczną i fizyczną oraz niski koszt [X. Chen i wsp., Chem. Rev. 107 (2007) 2891-2959]. A. Fujishima i wsp., Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology C: Photochemistry Reviews, 1 (2000) 1-21]. Rev. 114 (2014) 10095-10130].One of the popular materials used as a photocatalyst and nanoparticle carrier is TiO2. In nature, it occurs in several crystalline varieties: brookite, anatase and rutile. Anatase and rutile are excellent carriers for metal nanoparticles, but nanometals combined with anatase show higher photocatalytic activity due to the larger bandgap of 3.2 eV. The advantages of titanium(IV) oxide include high photoactivity, high chemical and physical stability and low cost [X. Chen et al., Chem. Rev. 107 (2007) 2891-2959]. For this reason, it is widely used in many fields, mainly in photocatalytic neutral air purification [A. Śuligoi et al., Chemical Papers, 68 (2014) 1-8]. You can also find information about its use in the sterilization process and anticancer therapy [A. Fujishima et al., Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology C: Photochemistry Reviews, 1 (2000) 1-21]. Moreover, the literature describes the use of TiO2 in photocatalytic hydrogen production in the process of water splitting and biomass reforming and summarizes the progress in photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to fuels using TiO2-based nanomaterials [Y. Ma et al., Chem. Rev. 114 (2014) 9987-10043]. The use of TiO2-based nanomaterials in photovoltaics has also been described in the literature. The authors of the article presented TiO2 nanomaterials as an attractive alternative to crystalline silicon in photovoltaic devices due to its high chemical and optical stability, non-toxicity, low cost and corrosion resistance [Y. Bai et al., Chem. Rev. 114 (2014) 10095-10130].
Varma i wsp., Doped titanium dioxide as a visible and sun light photo catalyst, US20110266136A1].A number of photocatalysts based on titanium(IV) oxide and methods of their preparation have been described in the literature. One of the inventions describes doped titanium dioxide and its use as a photocatalyst of visible and solar light. The catalysts were obtained by dissolving titanium salts in water (in an acidic medium), mixing with a doping material, hydrolysis and calcination. According to the invention, the photocatalyst can be used in photovoltaics, sensors (especially gas sensors), electrochemical devices and for catalytic water splitting to produce hydrogen and/or oxygen gas(s) [R.S. Varma et al., Doped titanium dioxide as a visible and sun light photo catalyst, US20110266136A1].
Osad przefiltrowano i przemyto wodą dejonizowaną. W celu uzyskania powierzchni zmodyfikowanej, produkt umieszczono w wodnym roztworze NaF na 30 minut i na koniec suszono na powietrzu [P. Hee-Jin i wsp., Method for producing photocatalyst and photocatalyst filter for air cleaning, US20200179910A1].The patent literature describes a photocatalyst with increased resistance to photocatalytic deactivation and a photocatalyst filter for air purification. The method of producing the catalyst includes several stages: preparing TiO2, applying platinum to the oxide surface by photodeposition and attaching fluorine to the surface. Chloroplatinic acid (H2PtCl6) serving as a nanoparticle precursor and 1M methanol serving as an electron donor were added to the aqueous TiO2 solution. For photodeposition, the mixture was irradiated with a 200 W mercury lamp for 30 minutes. The precipitate was filtered and washed with deionized water. Then the obtained powder was mixed with ethanol at a concentration of 0.15 g TiO2/ml. The prepared paste was spread on a glass substrate, air-dried, and then heated at 200°C for hours. In order to obtain a modified surface, the product was placed in an aqueous NaF solution for 30 minutes and finally air-dried [P. Hee-Jin et al., Method for producing photocatalyst and photocatalyst filter for air cleaning, US20200179910A1].
Wykorzystano go w metodzie dechloracji fotoelektrokatalizy pentachlorofenolowej [L. Xinyong i wsp., Preparation method of Ru-Pd bimetal-supported TiO2 nanotube photocatalyst and application thereof, CN102658130B].Another solution describes a Ru-Pd bimetallic photocatalyst mounted on TiO2 nanotubes. Preparation of the catalyst involves obtaining titanium dioxide nanotubes and depositing metals on them using the electrodeposition method. The titanium sheet is pre-processed. It is then connected to the positive pole of the regulated DC power supply, with platinum placed on the negative pole. A solution of hydrofluoric acid is used as the electrolyte, in which the concentration of fluorine ions is 0.05-1.0% by weight. The voltage is 20V and electrolysis is carried out for 30 minutes at a temperature below 20°C. After anodic oxidation, the titanium sheet is cleaned, calcined at 500°C for 1 hour, and then cooled to room temperature. In order to deposit both Ru and Pd, an electrode prepared from nanotubes is immersed in a solution containing Ru or Pd ions and subjected to electrolysis. First, the nanotube electrode is immersed in a solution with a ruthenium ion concentration of 0.01-0.1 mol/l and electrolysis is performed for 5-20 minutes, and after removal, it is air-dried. It is then placed in a three-electrode system, which consists of the obtained titanium dioxide nanotube electrode, which is the working electrode, a platinum electrode and an SCE electrode (saturated calomel electrode), which is the reference electrode. NaCl solution with a concentration of 0.05-0.5 mol/L is used again as the electrolyte. A voltage of 2V is used and electrodeposition is carried out for 1-10 seconds. The obtained ruthenium electrode with a matrix of titanium dioxide nanotubes is air-dried. Analogous activities are carried out to deposit palladium ions. Instead of a solution of ruthenium ions, a solution in which the concentration of palladium ions is 0.01-0.1 mol/l is used. The invention is dedicated to the control of environmental pollution. The catalyst improves the degradation capacity of organic pollutants. It was used in the dechlorination method of pentachlorophenol photoelectrocatalysis [L. Xinyong et al., Preparation method of Ru-Pd bimetal-supported TiO2 nanotube photocatalyst and application thereof, CN102658130B].
W innym patencie opisano fotokatalizator Ru-ZnO. Znajduje on zastosowanie w przemyśle fotokatalitycznym, katalizuje on rozkład metanu w symulowanym świetle słonecznym i dobrze sprawdza się w fotokatalitycznym oczyszczania niskostężonego metanu w powietrzu w normalnej temperaturze i pod normalnym ciśnieniem. Wykazał on dobrą stabilność w dziesięciocyklowych testach. 30-350°C w czasie 0-6 godzin. W rezultacie w ostatnim z etapów uzyskuje się fotokatalizator Ru-ZnO [C. Xuxing i wsp., Ru-ZnO photocatalyst and preparation method and application thereof, CN111545197A].Another patent describes a Ru-ZnO photocatalyst. It is used in the photocatalytic industry, it catalyzes the decomposition of methane in simulated sunlight and works well in the photocatalytic purification of low-concentration methane in air at normal temperature and pressure. It showed good stability in ten-cycle tests. The method of its preparation involves preparing a mixed salt of zinc, oxalic acid and water, then precipitating zinc oxalate from it and carrying out the first annealing process. Then the obtained zinc oxalate is mixed with ruthenium(III) chloride and water, and a redox reaction is carried out. The result is a precursor that is subjected to a second annealing. The first annealing is carried out at a temperature of 250-500°C for 1-10 hours, the second annealing is carried out at a temperature of 30-350°C for 0-6 hours. As a result, in the last stage a Ru-ZnO photocatalyst is obtained [C. Xuxing et al., Ru-ZnO photocatalyst and preparation method and application thereof, CN111545197A].
Ru, co korzystnie wpływa na jego opłacalność [T. Li i wsp., Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 906 (2022) 164380].Another article described a similar catalyst that was tested in the NaBH4 hydrolysis reaction. It is in the form of 2 nm Ru particles dispersed on TiO2 nanospheres superimposed on layered Ti3C2. It is characterized by high catalytic activity, retaining 80% activity even after five hydrolysis cycles. The tests showed that the obtained catalyst (designated as Ru NP-TiO2-Ti3C2) significantly supports the hydrolysis of NaBH4. The best results were achieved by the variant containing 0.33 wt%. Ru, which has a positive effect on its profitability [T. Li et al., Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 906 (2022) 164380].
W literaturze naukowej znane są również metody syntezy Ru/TiO2 w oparciu o klasyczną metodę impregnacyjną na anatazowej postaci TiO2 i zastosowaniu katalizatora w procesach fotokatalitycznego uwodornienia CO2 do CH4 [C. Moreover, the synthesis of the Ru/TiO2 catalyst was also described based on the bottom up method (sol-gel method) and impregnation of the synthesized TiO2 with salts of metal precursors. The catalyst was tested as a model in the processes of artificial photosynthesis as a system for the effective use of light to photo-support the synthesis of organic compounds [E. W literaturze spotyka się doniesienia o otrzymywaniu [2,2-dimetyl-1,3-dioksolan-4-yl]metanolu z gliceryny i acetonu z 95% wydajnością. There are reports in the literature about the preparation of [2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl]methanol from glycerin and acetone with 95% efficiency. From the publication of N. W. Inny sposób prowadzenia reakcji opisano dla katalizatora amberlyst-35. Wydajność otrzymywania solketalu tą metodą wynosi około 81% [C. Fan i wsp., Heterocycles, 85 (2012) 2977-2986].Another method of carrying out the reaction was described for the amberlyst-35 catalyst. The reaction was carried out in dichloromethane in the temperature range of 38.1-40.0°C for 8 h, obtaining [2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl]methanol in 88% yield and a small amount of the second six-membered acetal as the product side [J. The reaction against a heterogeneous catalyst was also carried out at a temperature of 70°C using a ZrO2-SiO2 catalyst with 89.7% selectivity for obtaining [2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl]methanol with 90.9% glycerol conversion. The yield of solketal by this method is approximately 81% [C. Fan et al., Heterocycles, 85 (2012) 2977-2986].
The preparation of other cyclic ketals in the reactions of diols and acetone / 2-butanone / 3-pentanone was based on the use of similar solutions.
Han i wsp., Inorganic Chemistry Communications, 22 (2012) 73-76].For example, there is a description of the reaction of ethylene glycol with 2-butanone, catalyzed by the copper complex [Cu I 4Cu II (mtpo)4(H2O)2Cl2]n. The reaction was carried out in toluene at 110°C for 24 hours, resulting in 2-ethyl-2-methyl-1,3-dioxolane with a yield of approximately 97% [ZP Han et al., Inorganic Chemistry Communications, 22 (2012 ) 73-76].
W innym rozwiązaniu zastosowano materiał hybrydowy wykonany z włókna poliakrylonitrylowego o znacznym stopniu kwasowości, reakcję prowadzono w refluksie, jako rozpuszczalnik zastosowano cykloheksan, otrzymując 2-etylo-2-metylo-1,3-dioksolan z wydajnością rzędu około 96% [L. Shao et al., Monatshefte fur Chemie, 143 (2012) 1199-1203].
Podobne wyniki (około 95% wydajność otrzymywania 2-etylo-2-metylo-1,3-dioksolanu) osiągnięto na katalizatorze MNPsSi-PPha-SOaH, prowadząc reakcję w cykloheksanie przez 2 godziny w temperaturze 80,8°C [P. Wang i wsp., Catalysis Letters, 135 (2010) 159-164].Similar results (approximately 95% yield of 2-ethyl-2-methyl-1,3-dioxolane) were achieved on the MNPsSi-PPha-SOaH catalyst, conducting the reaction in cyclohexane for 2 hours at 80.8°C [P. Wang et al., Catalysis Letters, 135 (2010) 159-164].
Pierwotnie 2-etylo-2,4-dimetylo-1,3-dioksolan otrzymywano w reakcji 1,2-propanodiolu z 2-butanonem w obecności benzenu z udziałem kwasu p-toluenosulfonowego jako katalizatora [R. Salmi, Chemische Berichte, 72 (1939) 600-602].Originally, 2-ethyl-2,4-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane was obtained by reacting 1,2-propanediol with 2-butanone in the presence of benzene using p-toluenesulfonic acid as a catalyst [R. Salmi, Chemische Berichte, 72 (1939) 600-602].
Wydajność otrzymywania cyklicznego acetalu wynosiła około 48% [J. C. Meslard, Bulletin de la Societe Chimique de France, 1 (1985) 84-89].The reaction of 1,2-propanediol with 2-butanone was also described, in which 2-ethyl-2,4-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane was obtained in 72.7% yield by using the dimethyl sulfate-formylmorpholine adduct in dichloromethane for 24 hours at room temperature [W. Kantlehner et al., Liebigs Annalen der Chemie, 2 (1980) 246-252]. A method for producing 2-ethyl-2,4-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane on the Amberlyst A15 catalyst in the presence of 4A molecular sieves is also described. The reaction was carried out for 24 hours at room temperature, tetrahydrofuran was used as the solvent. The yield of obtaining cyclic acetal was approximately 48% [J. C. Meslard, Bulletin de la Societe Chimique de France, 1 (1985) 84-89].
W literaturze spotyka się również doniesienia o niskotemperaturowym (21 °C) procesie wytwarzania 2-etylo-2,4-dimetylo-1,3-dioksolanu z udziałem kwasu dichlorooctowego przez 12 godzin, z 79% wydajnością [J. Gelas i wsp., Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 61 (1983) 1487-1493].There are also reports in the literature about a low-temperature (21 °C) process for the production of 2-ethyl-2,4-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane using dichloroacetic acid for 12 hours, with 79% efficiency [J. Gelas et al., Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 61 (1983) 1487-1493].
Wydajność otrzymywania 2-etylo-2-metylo-1,3-dioksanu wynosiła około 32% [J. C. Meslard, Bulletin de la Societe Chimique de France, 1 (1985) 84-89].The reaction of 1,3-propanediol with 2-butanone was carried out at room temperature for 24 hours in the presence of tetrahydrofuran on the Amberlyst A15 catalyst in the presence of 4A molecular sieves. The yield of obtaining 2-ethyl-2-methyl-1,3-dioxane was about 32% [J. C. Meslard, Bulletin de la Societe Chimique de France, 1 (1985) 84-89].
The disadvantages of the above-mentioned methods for obtaining cyclic ketals in the direct reaction of diol and acetone / 2-butanone / 3-pentanone are the need to use strong acids, an anhydrous reaction environment and, depending on the system, low efficiency (32-95%) and non-selectivity of the obtained products. Moreover, there is a need to conduct the synthesis of 1,3-dioxolanes at high temperatures (20-100°C) or in a relatively long reaction time (1.5-8 hours). The solutions described require the addition of strong inorganic acids. The solutions described so far require the use of additional organic solvents, a protective atmosphere, or reaction initiators. In many cases, the process of obtaining a cyclic ketal is time-consuming, and there is no information on the possibility of reusing the catalyst in subsequent reactions.

Do kwarcowej kolby okrągłodennej o poj. Fotokatalizator odmyto wodą (4x4 cm3), odwirowano, zdekantowano a następnie suszono w temp. 150°C do stałej masy. For a round-bottom quartz flask with a capacity of 250 ml introduced: 150 mg 0.4%Ru/0.3%V/2.9%W/TiO2 with a total weight of 420 mg (size of metal nanoparticles below 25 nm, size of titanium dioxide particles below 19 pm), 13.12 ml of ethylene glycol with a purity of 99% (234.6 mmol) and 86.88 ml of acetone with a purity of 99.0% (1172.8 mmol). After mixing both reagents, the molar ratio of glycol to acetone was 1:5. The quartz flask was equipped with a mechanical stirrer and a reflux condenser, then placed in an ultrasonic bath for 5 minutes and sonicated at a frequency of 40 kHz. After the time necessary to suspend the photocatalyst in the reaction mixture, the flask was placed in a water bath with a mechanical stirrer, conducting the reaction at 60°C for 45 minutes, stirring the reactants at a speed of 200 rpm. The round-bottomed flask was wrapped in aluminum foil to prevent light from entering. After the reaction time had elapsed, the suspension was centrifuged and the post-reaction mixture was separated from the photocatalyst by decantation. The photocatalyst was washed with water (4x4 cm3 ), centrifuged, decanted and then dried at 150°C to constant weight.
