Abstract

According to the invention, paper containing synthetic polyethylene fibers is coated with the mixtures based on polyurethane or acrylic-methacrylic ester. Thanks to this, it was achieved that the paper according to the invention, it may contain all types of security features known for paper and enables personalization of documents with the use of any type of printing devices. Durability this paper is comparable to the durability of the known synthetic substrate. Additionally obtained possibility of securing documents by stamping characteristic free signs kind of stamped with elevated temperature. The result is transparent posing characters watermark imitation, verified in transmitted light. These characters may contain also personalized information, which makes it practically impossible to personalize it again for the purpose of falsification document.

The invention relates to synthetic paper for security documents and to a security document made of this paper.

British Patent Specification No. GB 1,449,368 discloses a paper for offset security documents made of cellulose fibers containing synthetic polyethylene fibers, in particular in an amount of 10% to 50%. In addition, British Patent No. 1,495,530 discloses a cellulose fiber type security document paper containing synthetic polyethylene fibers in an amount of 40% to 80%.

Known paper can have a number of classic security features against document forgery. In particular, it is possible to provide chemical protection of the paper, insertion of fibers and security broches, watermarks, various types of security threads or a marker. The paper is also very durable, intended for printing documents secured with known techniques (offset, intaglio, letterpress and screen printing), on which it is possible to apply variable-optical elements, and when used for personalized documents, it allows the use of all known personalization techniques.

The aim of the invention is to develop synthetic paper, the use of which for security documents enables the use of a new method of securing them, including the introduction of personalized information to the document.

According to the invention, synthetic paper is coated by known methods with mixtures based on polyurethane or acrylic-methacrylic esters.

Thanks to this, it was possible to additionally secure documents by stamping characteristic signs of any type with a stamp of increased temperature. The result is transparent signs imitating a watermark, verified in transmitted light. These characters may also constitute personalized information, which makes it practically impossible to personalize the document again in order to forge the document.

From cellulose pulp containing 15% of synthetic cellulose and other fibers, paper is produced by one known method, which is then coated with a mixture of the following composition:

100 parts of polyurethane, parts of polyurethane crosslinker, parts of polyethylene glycol,

0.8 parts of the substance increasing the migration into the substrate.

Paper enables the production of documents secured with the use of known security elements of the paper, making all security measures regarding its surface as well as personalization of documents made of it with the use of any printing device. By pressing a stamp with a temperature of about 140 ° C, transparent signs with any graphic elements or inscriptions are obtained in the paper, which imitate a watermark verified in transmitted light.
