Abstract

A door handle assembly (1) includes a handle (2), a shaft (3) and a rosette (4). The assembly is constructed in a manner which enables it to be fitted to a square-section bar (14) of different commercially available lock mechanisms. To this end, the assembly includes a coil spring (8), a spring holder (9), a lock washer (12) having first members, e.g. tongues (9b), which coact with second members, e.g. notches (12a), on the periphery of the spring holder, such as to enable the lock washer and the spring holder to be removably joined together in different positions of rotation. The hole (13) in the lock washer (12) and the blind hole (5) that receives the square-section bar (14) in the shaft (3) are configured so as to enable the square-section bar to be received in any one of at least eight different positions of rotation, therewith enhancing the possibility of using the door handle assembly effectively with different commercially available lock mechanisms.

Description

The present invention relates to a door handle assembly. Such an assembly is used in particular for mounting on a square cross-section bar to interact with the door closing mechanism.

Many door handles designed to cooperate with a door closing mechanism attached to a square cross-section bar are known. In many cases, it is not possible to make changes to commonly known door handles, inter alia, due to the fixed position of a stationary square bar bar when no rotational force is applied. Thus, the selection of a handle or parts of a handle assembly is very limited when it is necessary to change the handle of the lock mechanism in the lock housing.

This presents many inconveniences not because of the lack of an aesthetic appearance or the intended use of the door handle. This causes a lot of trouble for the user when he only wants to replace the handle with a fully functional lock housing and lock mechanism.

A door handle assembly according to the invention, including a handle with a shaft mounted on a square cross-section bar, has a rosette for a square cross-section bar, the bar being located in a blind hole formed in the shaft of the handle on which a lock washer is seated and the spring and the spring catch, movable in relation to the rosette together with the shaft, the spring catch is coupled with the spring end portions and stops located on the rosette, and the securing washer has a central hole for a bar with a square cross-section, characterized in that the shaft securing washer includes a series of circumferentially spaced notches coupled to a series of outwardly projecting tongues located around the circumference of the spring catch.

The number of notches of the lock washer is preferably greater than the number of the spring latch tongues, and the lock washer preferably has twelve notches arranged circumferentially at a distance corresponding to an angle of 30 °.

It is preferred that the spring catch has four circumferentially positioned tongues about a central axis engaged in the notches of the lock washer.

The lock washer has a polygonal opening, preferably having at least eight 90 ° corners.

The shaft has a polygonal blind hole preferably having at least five 90 ° corners.

An advantage of the solution according to the invention is that it is compatible with a variety of closing mechanisms, which together with this mechanism can be used for any type of door. It can be easily replaced, providing the user with the possibility to choose any handle depending on his preferences and purpose.

In order to position the square bar in its resting position, a different pattern of holes is used in which the screws securing the lock to the housing are placed. It is also not a problem to match the rosettes of the handle to the proposed door handle. Also, a large number of different types of handles are available on the market and intended for individual use together with commonly available on the market lock mechanisms.

The handle mechanism can be easily adapted to the existing lock mechanism in use, while at the same time guaranteeing a large selection of possible handles. The elements circumferentially around the lock washer and the spring catch elements interacting with each other can be designed in various ways. For example, the lock washer may be provided with outwardly projecting tongues instead of notches, and the spring latch may be provided with notches which engage with said tongues.

The subject of the invention is illustrated in the embodiment in the drawing, in which Fig. 1 shows the bolt holder assembly in an exploded perspective view, Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view of a square bar in the area of the lock washer and shows the spring catch fitted in the first position. Fig. 3 is a sectional view corresponding to Fig. 2 and shows the door handle assembly in a subsequent position with a 30 ° rotated lock washer and said tongue attachment protruding from the spring catch. As shown in Fig. 1, the door handle assembly 1 comprises a handle 2, a handle shaft 3, a blind hole 5 located at the end of the shaft 3, and a square cross-section bar 14 fitted in the opening 5. The shaft 3 is rotatably mounted in the rosette 4. and includes a stop 4a for end portion 8a of helical spring 8.

Although not shown, the escutcheon 4 has bolt holes 6 that extend through the lock mechanism (not shown) and connect to the same rosette on the other side of the door (not shown) for which the door handle assembly 1 is intended. The second end 8b of the spring 8 cooperates with a projection 9a formed on the catch of the spring 9, which also includes a series of abutment tongues 9b projecting and situated about a central axis in the direction opposite to the direction of the projection 9a.

The tabs 9b may be selectively positioned in the notches 12a formed on the securing pad 12 and distributed circumferentially thereon. The safety insert 12 has a central opening 13 whose profile or configuration corresponds to the square cross-section of the rod 14.

When the door handle assembly 1 is attached, the spring catch 9 and the lock washer 12 are rotated with respect to each other and the other components of the assembly, respectively, in a manner to ensure proper operation of the door handle 2, depending on the position of the square bar 14 and the holes 6.

The door handle 2 is replaced by releasing the various elements of the handle from the rod 14 and turning the lock washer 12 and the spring catch 9, which releases

183 608 to fix the tongues 9b in the notches 12a and at the same time to fix the stop 4a and the spring 8 of the new rosette 4.

As shown in Fig. 1, the lock washer 12 has twelve notches 12a circumferentially spaced at 30 °. The spring catch 9 has four stop tongues 9a.

To increase the adaptability of the door handle assembly 1 to a variety of closing mechanisms, the opening 13 for the rod 14 in the release pad 12 is shaped to allow the rod 14 to have eight different pivot positions.

The blind hole 5 in the shaft part 3 of the handle 2 also has a conformation to the other parts. The adaptability of the handle assembly 1 to the various lock mechanisms is made possible by rotating the lock washer 12 by 180 ° about a vertical axis. The ring 11 is located between the lock washer 12 and the spring catch 9.

The door handle assembly of the present invention can be used together with a commercially available lock mechanism.

Patent claims A door handle assembly including a shaft handle mounted on a square cross-section bar, has a rosette for a square cross-section bar, the bar being located in a blind hole formed in the handle shaft on which a lock washer sits and the spring and the spring catch, movable in relation to the rosette together with the shaft, the spring catch is coupled with the spring ends and stops located on the rosette, and the securing washer has a central hole for a bar with a square cross-section, characterized in that the securing washer (12 ) of the shaft (3) includes a series of circumferentially spaced notches (12a) engaging a series of outwardly projecting tongues (9b) located around the periphery of the spring (9) catch. 2.
