Description
The subject of the invention is a defoliation preparation based on the acid and salts of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, used primarily in fruit nurseries for the removal of amounts from fruit trees intended for transplantation to a position in an orchard.
In Polish climatic conditions (early and harsh winters), removing the amount from the trees before transplanting is very important for the subsequent, proper growth of the tree in the orchard. There are different ways to remove leaves. The easiest way is to pick the leaves manually. This method is laborious, often breaks side branches and buds and prevents the nutrients contained in the leaves from flowing to the tree.
Badania wykonane w Instytucie Sadownictwa i Kwiaciarstwa w Polsce potwierdziły zalety i skuteczność soli Na2CuEDTA, wykazały jednocześnie możliwość podwyższeniajej efektywności przez dodatek składników aktywizujących i stymulujących defoliację. Another way is to remove the leaves with chemicals. For this purpose, inorganic or organic compounds are used. Potassium iodide was a frequently used inorganic compound. Also used are: magnesium chlorate, cupric sulfate, ammonium sulfate and cupric oxychloride. The effectiveness of these compounds varies and depends on the species of treated tree, the date of the treatment and the concentration of the preparation used. Of the organic defoliants, the most commonly used are: ethephon (whose mechanism of action on plants is explained by the influence of the released ethylene), endatal, sodium salts of alkylsulfonic acids, and dehydrating agents such as Reglone and Gramoxone. Mass defoliations were carried out with 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T. The mixtures of the mentioned preparations turned out to be more versatile. The action of defoliants on physiological processes in plants does not always produce only the intended effect. It was found that many of the above-mentioned preparations may damage the tree, especially at higher doses, may reduce frost resistance of trees, phytotoxicity, which may adversely affect the future development of buds and shoots, and a number of other defects. A significant disadvantage limiting the wide use of these defoliants is the high price of the preparations (in practice, the treatments may turn out to be unprofitable) and environmental considerations. Recently, information about the use of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium copper salt, abbreviated as Na 2 CuEDTA, has appeared in the scientific literature. The research carried out at the Institute of Pomology and Floriculture in Poland confirmed the advantages and effectiveness of Na 2 CuEDTA salt, at the same time showing the possibility of increasing its effectiveness by adding ingredients activating and stimulating defoliation. Detailed research allowed to select the most active stimulators and to determine the optimal percentage of ingredients. The synergistic effect of such ingredients as alkylsulfonates, alkylbenzenesulfonates, sulfonated ethoxylated fatty alcohols and the stimulating effect of fatty acids and fatty acid esters with the addition of appropriately selected nonionic surfactants was also found. Due to the ecological advantages, the defoliants developed by us, containing the addition of natural humic acids to Na 2 CuEDTA, can be of great importance.
Badane przez nas preparaty, stanowiące przedmiot patentu, odznaczają się wysoką skutecznością, przewyższającą o 30 do 50% skuteczność preparatów zawierających tylko Na2CuEDTA.The preparations we tested, which are the subject of the patent, are characterized by high efficiency, exceeding the effectiveness of preparations containing only Na 2 CuEDTA by 30 to 50%.
Przykłady:Examples:
Przykład 1. Do800 g 1 5% roztworu wodnego Na2CuEDTA dodano 120 g estrów metylowych kwasów otrzymanych z hydrolizy oleju rzepakowego, 50 g oksyetylenowanego alkoholu izobutylowego i 30 g oksyetylenowego alkilofenolu. Otrzymano emulsyjny preparat do defoliacji zawierający obok składników stymulujących 12 % Na2CuEDTA. Sporządzono ciecz opryskową dodając do 141 wody 1 kg otrzymanego preparatu. Cieczą opryskano drzewka przeznaczone do defoliacji. Po około 10 dniach uzyskano 85 % defoliację.
