Abstract

A multi-compartment container (10) for packaging a plurality of articles such as bottles (B), comprises two or more compartment units (M1, M2) and a frangible cover portion (30), said compartment units comprising a base panel (14, 38), side panels (12, 16, 18, 60, 84, 40, 34, 36, 132) and a top panel (20, 30, 32) wherein said compartment unit top panel is partly formed by said frangible cover portion (30) in said formed multi-compartment container and removal of said cover portion (30) from said container (10) causes at least partial separation of said units (M1, M2) and exposes the top of at least one of the articles contained in at least one of said units thereby enabling removal of the one article from the one unit.

Description

The subject of the invention is a multi-chamber, split container for the packaging of consumer goods, in particular cans or bottles, consisting of two or more chambers connected by means of a tear or removal element.

In U.S. Patent No. US 4,919,269 describes a container with two chambers each containing several beverage cans. The entire container containing twenty-four cans is easy to transport. The container may be divided into two individual compartments containing twelve cans each, which division may be made both at the point of sale to obtain less merchandise for a single sale, and by the buyer for his convenience. However, the division of the container does not allow access to any of the chambers.

US Patent No. 4,533,052 discloses a two-piece beverage can container composed of two closed-bottom cuboidal open-top boxes into which separate packaging units are placed. Both boxes meet with their vertical walls and are interconnected by means of an easily detachable fastening element, as well as they are equipped with a common rectangular cover mounted on both boxes. The cover is provided with an element with a perforated incision located above the contact plane of the boxes, allowing it to be easily separated when dividing the two-piece container into separate compartments containing the two packaging units. Moreover, in the vertical walls of the boxes, near their upper edges, there are oblong holes for handles, separate for each box.

The main disadvantage of this solution is the relatively complicated construction of three separate elements, namely two boxes and a cover, associated with a considerable labor-consumption and thus with correspondingly high costs of this package. Moreover, the package does not provide for the formation of separate seats for the individual cans, so that it does not protect them from damage and is not suitable for transporting bottles.

U.S. Patent No. 5,229,733 discloses a container for cans or bottles with drinks, consisting of two, four, or even twelve chambers and made of one blank. A blank for a container composed of two chambers, i.e. in its simplest construction solution, consists of two symmetrical parts, with panels in the central part of the blank, from which a T-shaped partition is formed between the two chambers of the container. part of this partition is provided with openings to allow the upper ends (for example caps) to be inserted into the bottle container. Adjacent to the partition panels, on both sides, are the bottom panels of both chambers of the container folded along the fold line, while the bottom panels are adjacent to the panels corresponding to the side walls of the container. On one side of the blank, adjacent to the sidewall panel are sheets of a double lid covering both chambers of the container. The outer cover panel is further connected to the closure wall panel, and the panels corresponding to both parts of the cover and the panels corresponding to the upper part of the partition are further provided with score lines or perforations enabling the two chambers of the container to be easily separated. The outer edges of the panels of individual walls are also provided with trapezoidal flaps connected with them by fold lines, which enable gluing to rectangular tubes forming both chambers - end walls closing these chambers on the side. The container blank is further provided with transverse and longitudinal strips designed to be torn off and joined to adjacent wall panels, score or perforation lines to facilitate the detachment of the strips.

In another design of the container, there are also provided panels connected to the blank, which, when folded, form also the end closing walls of the container.

The main disadvantage of this solution is the necessity to glue the flaps and front closing walls together, which is associated with a considerable labor-consumption of assembly, and thus correspondingly high costs of making the container. Moreover, a drawback of this solution is the relatively weak strength corners of the container, which are not bound by any structural elements, but only constitute an assembly of the individual container walls surrounding these corners.

The object of the invention is to provide a multi-compartmental and divided container structure of this type, and thus adapted to the packaging of a plurality of articles and allowing easy division into individual chambers with the articles contained therein, while at the same time eliminating the drawbacks of previously known containers. In particular, the container according to the invention, capable of producing a single blank, should be characterized by an increased strength of the corners associated with the use of structural reinforcement panels connecting the wall panels with glued flaps. In addition, it should provide simpler and easier assembly than the known multi-chamber containers, as well as the ease of dividing the container into individual chambers containing separate groups of goods.

This object is achieved in the construction of a multi-chamber container according to the invention, the parts of the blank adjacent to each other, corresponding to the walls of the separate chambers of the container, are connected by means of a connecting panel to be removed when separating the chambers, separated from the adjacent upper panels of the upper walls of these chambers by intermittent cuts across the blank. The connecting flap is also part of the container that covers the chambers.

The central part of the connecting panel, together with the reinforcing panel, delimited on one side by an incision extended by the fold line, and on the other side by an incision extended on both sides by the fold line, forms an extendable handle. The connecting flap is provided with short cuts and double fold lines perpendicular thereto, and its outer parts are connected on both sides with fold lines with tabs constituting an extension of the handle formed by the reinforcing flap parts.

The flap of the upper part of the closure wall is connected on one side by a fold line with the flap of the top wall, on the other side by a fold line with a glued flap, and on the side by a fold line with a knotty flap. A triangular panel connected to the upper wall panel by fold lines, forming a corner in the folded container, is on the other hand connected by a fold line to an inner construction panel, which in turn is connected to the upper part of the closure wall panel via a nodal panel delimited by fold lines.

The closing wall panel, connected by a fold line to the base panel, is also laterally connected by a fold line to the glued flap, and furthermore, by diagonal fold lines to the spans connecting this panel to the glued flaps.

The side wall panel of each of the chambers simultaneously stiffens the base of the assembled container as well as a partition separating the articles stored in the container.

In a different solution of a multi-chamber, divided container for packing consumer goods, especially cans or bottles, made of three separate blanks, namely two for each of the chambers and a third - covering part - the covering panel is separated from the adjacent panels of the upper walls behind by means of intermittent cuts running across the blank of the cover sheet.

The central part of the cover sheet forms, together with the reinforcing sheet, bounded on both sides by incisions - an extendable handle.

The cover sheet is provided at both ends of one of the cuts with short, perpendicular, double cuts, and its outer parts are connected on both sides by fold lines with tabs constituting an extension of the handle formed by a part of the reinforcing panel.

The flap of the upper part of the closure wall is connected on one side to the flap of the top wall, on the other side to the glued flap, and on the side to the knotted flap.

The triangular panel forming a corner of the shaped cover and connected to the top panel panel is on the other hand connected to the inner construction panel, in turn connected to the top panel portion of the closure wall via a knotted panel delimited by fold lines.

In yet another embodiment, the blanks of the separate chambers (M1 and M2) of the container are provided with closure wall panels connected by fold lines to the base panel and further joined at the side via spans with glued flaps.

The flap to be removed, which is part of the cover panel, consists of the middle part panel and the top panels, the inclined parts of the side walls, and the vertical panels of the side panels, as well as the panels of the inclined parts of the end walls and connected vertical panels portions of the closing walls, wherein between the adjacent panels are triangular, lined internal folding, structural panels.

The base panels that form part of the blank of each of the chambers are provided with a pattern of openings and matching tabs for interconnecting the panels.

The upper panels of the blanks of the separate chambers are provided with semicircular blanks to hold the necks of the bottles and with connected and downwardly facing elements separating adjacent bottles after the chamber is shaped. Connected to these upper panels, the closing wall panels preferably have a shape which is a combination of a rectangle and a trapezoid.

Due to the described structure, the two or multi-chamber container according to the invention, adapted both for the packaging of beverage cans, bottles or other articles, can be easily divided into compartments constituting it, by removing the flap connecting the individual chambers, while allowing access to the articles contained in the container and allowing both for their further storage and for taking individual articles out of the chambers.

The container according to the invention is easy to assemble and enables the mechanization of this operation, which has a significant impact on reducing its production costs. Moreover, thanks to the use of structural panels placed between the glued flaps and the panels of the individual walls of the container, it ensures high strength of the assembled structure of the container, especially its reinforced corners.

By using partitions forming pockets in a variant of the container according to the invention, it is also adapted to the storage and transport of bottles.

The multi-chamber container of the invention is preferably made of a single blank, although a version of the container, especially for special purposes, e.g. for storing or transporting bottles, may be made of separate cutouts for each chamber and an additional, third cut of the connecting cover. these chambers.

Figure 1 shows a blank 10 made of cardboard or a sheet of other rigid, foldable material, consisting of an inner wall panel 12, a base panel 14, a sidewall bottom panel 16, a sidewall top panel 18 and a top wall panel 20. . The entire container blank 10 is symmetrical with respect to its longitudinal axis, which makes it possible to discuss the side panels adjacent to only one edge of the main panels 12 to 20, 30 and 32 to 40. The indications of the respective side panels adjacent to the other edge of these main panels are supplemented by the ending a.

The inner wall panel 12 is connected by a fold line 52 to a corner sloping panel 50 which in turn is connected by a fold line 56 to the glued flap 54. The flap 54 is connected by a fold line 62 to the spans which in turn connects the oblique fold line 64 with the lateral flap. the edge of the panel 60 of the lower portion of the closure wall. The flap 108 of the upper part of the closing wall is connected on one side by a fold line 110 to the upper panel 32, and on the other by a fold line 114 with a glued flap 112. On the other hand, the triangular flap 116, which forms the corner of the closing wall in the folded container, is connected on one side by a line folds 118 with the top flap 34 of the sidewall, and on the other hand a fold line 119 with the inner construction flap 117. The structural flap 117 is in turn connected to the flap 108 - a diagonal fold line 124 with the nodal flap 120 which on the other side is connected by a line the folds 122 with the top closure wall panel 108.

The flap 126 of the lower part of the closure wall is connected on one side by a fold line 130 - to the flap 36 of the lower part of the sidewall, and on the other side to a fold line 131 with a glued flap 127. The two separate chambers M1 and M2 can be separated from each other by tearing off the glued tab B1 from the base of the container (fig. 3). The unbroken modules making up the compartments M1 and M2, together with their contents, are still components of the container, but allow the contents to be accessed, for example, for immediate use. The B bottles filling the container can only be accessed after removing the middle band.

When separated from each other, the two modules making up the chambers of the container can be stored both vertically (chamber M2 in fig. 3) and horizontally (chamber M1 in fig. 3).

The two compartments M1 and M2 can be arranged both separately and on top of each other, for example on a refrigerator shelf or in a door thereof, the bottles being fully accessible from the open side of the container. The individual chambers may also be containers for the return transportation of empty bottles.

It is also possible to design a split multi-chamber container according to the blanks shown in Figs. 4 and 5. The overall blank of this container consists of a separate blank of the cover part 31 'and two separate blanks 15' and 35 'forming two trough-shaped chambers (Fig. 4 and 5).

The blank 15 'is assembled into one of the chambers by lifting the side panels 12' and 16 ', folding the glued flaps 54', 54a ', 71' and 71a 'inwards and lifting the closing wall panels 60' and 60a 'up to their contact with glued flaps. The blank 35 'is folded in the same way.

To completely assemble the container 10 ', the cover portion 31' is first folded to form a reinforced handle S '(in the same way as the previously discussed handle made of panel 30), so that the handle panel 98' folds about the fold line 104 ', so to make it contact on the underside with a portion of the blank between the fold line 104 'and the cut 106'. The container is also provided with a separate cover part 31 with a removable panel 30 (Figures 6 and 9).

A blank for folding one of the compartments is shown in Fig. 8. To fold the compartment, the panels 60 and 60a are folded about fold lines 64, 63, 64a and 63a so that the panel 61 is vertical. The panels 12 and 16 are then folded downwards and the flaps 60, 70, 50a and 70a are folded inwardly and adhered to the inner surfaces of the panels 60 and 60a of the closing walls. The base plates 14 and 14a are folded inwardly overlapping and joined together by inserting the tabs into the holes or otherwise.

The top panels 61 of the two cavity blanks 15 and 35 are provided with semicircular blanks 310 for holding the bottle necks and with downwardly directed elements 312 separating adjacent bottles in the container.

After the two chambers of the blanks 15 and 35 have been assembled, they are placed next to each other and the cover portion 31 (FIG. 9) is placed over them. In this solution, the panel 30 to be removed (Fig. 6) consists of a central portion 33 and panels 20 and 32 forming the top inclined portions of the side walls, and panels 18 and 34 - the vertical portion of the side walls, as well as from panels 84 and 84a, the inclined portions of the closing walls, and from panels 90 and 90a, the vertical portions of the closing walls.
