The subject of the design is shown in the attached illustration. Fig. 5000-1 depicts a piece of textile material and large cushions covered with such material (first color variation of the design). Essential features of the design are parallel stripes of various widths in black, red, and orange, with stylized bamboo shoots of various sizes and black characters from the Japanese alphabet placed vertically against this shaped background, as shown in the attached illustration Fig. 5000-1.
