The subject of the invention is a laser head, especially high-power lasers, applicable to research on controlled thermonuclear fusion. Known and previously used high power laser heads are made in the form of a cylindrical chamber in a solid aluminum block, inside which are placed concentrically, a laser rod, a series of discharge lamps, a quartz tube and a magnesium oxide tube, all elements inside the quartz tube are embedded in in the water bath, and between the magnesium oxide tube and the walls of the chamber, there is an air cushion that damps the shock wave generated during the discharge. All elements inside the chamber are slidably mounted in the openings of the supporting structure ensuring proper spacing between elements, made in the form of a set of rings and supports in the shape of an openwork skeleton. The coolant of the lamps and the rod is distilled and deionized water circulating in a closed circuit, forced flow at a certain speed. The xenon flash lamps used in the laser heads emit the spectrum in a very wide range of wavelengths. Only a small fraction of this spectrum in the visible spectrum is used efficiently in the laser action. The whole range of ultraviolet and infrared light is useless and even harmful. And so the ultraviolet destroys the active centers in the laser medium, and the infrared heats the medium causing its lensing. In order to eliminate this type of unfavorable phenomena, various types of solutions are used, for example in the solution according to US patent No. 4,039,970, in which a screen reflecting ultraviolet radiation is used between the lamps and a laser rod, or in the solution according to US patent No. 4,232,276, in which the rod itself is surrounded by a surface that filters and reflects radiation from an undesirable spectral range. The disadvantage of this type of solution is that this type of protection reduces the efficiency of the laser as a result of the reduced intensity of the pumping radiation.

The laser head, made in the form of a cylindrical chamber in a solid aluminum block, inside which are placed concentrically, a laser rod, a series of flash discharge lamps, a magnesium oxide tube and an airbag embedded in a water bath filling a quartz tube, is characterized by the following technical measures and their combination . The laser rod of the head is mounted concentrically inside a transparent glass tube filled with a liquid quantum converter diluted preferably in 1-5% DMSO, the distance between the laser rod and the glass tube being proportional to the product of the rod diameter and the refractive index of the liquid quantum converter solution. The glass tube, on the other hand, is made of pyrex * u. The use of a liquid quantum converter solution as a non-linear absorber, converting infrared and ultraviolet radiation into pumping radiation, allowed to increase the gain by over 20% higher than the results obtained so far on the same type of heads.
Poduszka powietrzna 6, znajdująca się pomiędzy korpusem głowicy 10 a rurą z tlenku magnezu 5, amortyzuje falę uderzeniową powstającą w momencie wyładowania w lampach błyskowych 3.The subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing in an embodiment which shows a vertical section of the head. The laser rod 1 is mounted concentrically in a longitudinal glass tube 2 made of pyrex glass, sealed on both sides with gaskets, not shown in the drawing, placed between the rod 1 and the glass tube 2, the glass tube 2 having a lead 9 with an end through which the space between with a rod 1 and a glass tube 2 with a liquid quantum converter, which is a solution of SM / NOg / 3, diluted in 1 - 5% DMSO / CH 2/5 SO, acting as a non-linear absorber. The distance between the laser rod 1 and the wall of the glass tube 2 is proportional to the product of the diameter of the rod 1 and the refractive index of the solution. A plurality of flashlamps 3 are concentrically arranged around the glass tube 2, connected to a high-voltage power supply not shown in the drawing, located outside the head. The laser rod 1, glass tube 2, flash lamps 3, openwork support structure are placed in a closed quartz tube 4 provided with an inlet 7 and a coolant outlet Θ 11, connecting the quartz tube 4 with an external cooling system, not shown in the drawing. Outside the quartz tube 4 there is also a magnesium oxide tube 5 concentrically mounted, which acts as a mirror reflecting the radiation of flash lamps 3 towards the laser rod 1. The air cushion 6 between the head body 10 and the magnesium oxide tube 5 absorbs the shock wave generated. when discharged in flash units 3.
Dzięki temu właściwe promieniowanie pompowania zostaje wzmocnione dając w efekcie zwiększenie sprawności głowicy laserowej i większą moc promieniowania wyjściowego. After filling the glass tube 2 with the diluted Sm / NO4 / g solution, its supply is cut off by closing the inlet 9, then the cooling system is turned on and the entire volume of the quartz tube 4 is filled with coolant 11, the coolant 11 constantly circulating in a closed circuit. At the time of discharge, the energy stored in the capacitors of the high-voltage power supply is converted in flash lamps 3 into pumping radiation, which is pumped into the laser rod 1 by a non-linear absorber filling the glass tube 2 in the form of a liquid envelope surrounding the laser rod 1 The absorber transforms the pumping radiation without attenuation and, in addition, it converts harmful infrared and ultraviolet radiation, present in the spectrum of flash lamps, into pumping radiation that initiates laser action in rod 1. As a result, the proper pumping radiation is enhanced, resulting in increased efficiency of the laser head and greater output radiation power.
